When Michone saved Andria....that was winter, the trees had no leaves. So at least one perhaps two winters have passed. Okay, I'm anal....but I notice things like that. But yes, they are rather cryptic about timelines. In the comics how much time has passed?

The Dimer

They're not much better about it in the comics. It's warm out when Rick leaves the hospital and find the group. It's start to snow by the time Carl kills Shane. Then they find Tyreese, go to Wiltshire, go to Hershel's farm, and find the prison before it warms up.

It warms up while they're at the prison and stays that way through their residency, the Governor's attack, going back to Hershel's farm, finding Abraham's group, finding Morgan, running into the cannibals, and finding their new home (which is roughly where we are in the show now).

Without spoiling anything it starts to snow while they're at their new place and then then warms up again to where the comic is current at. So if I had to guess I'd say we're probably at about 2 years in the comic and I'd say a little over a year in the show.

The present "post Negan" story line is -- I think -- about a year from where they left off, and about 2 years or so had elapsed getting to that point.

Soooo... say AZA 0002, currently, give or take?

I wasn't even accounting for any leaps in the timeline. I was just basing my time on event happening one after another and seeing the weather go hot, cold, hot, cold, hot. If they ever had a big leap that skipped a winter we could be at three years in the comic.

I believe Kirkman has come out and said he has not plans for establishing a formal time line and actively tries to avoid setting one up. I don't even think we know what year they were in when the zombie outbreak started.

I kinda go by Carl and Sophia's apparent ages from first issue to current. Although, now that I think about it, that might put us closer to a 4 year span in time.

Carl's gotta be about 16 by now, and he was definitely no older than like 12 at the outset.

He's certainly old enough to know how to beat a guy with a shovel upside the head

Oh yeah -- and Maggie's rugrat looks no more than about 2.

EDIT: Re-reading back just before Savior arc and Carl is "9... I think", with the implication he'd be about 9 1/2 (right before the eye loss), and that is like 1 1/2 years into the zombie apocalypse. So, if hes' even only 14ish post Savior arc, I think that makes it around 4+ years have elapsed since the beginning of the story.

EDIT #2: Rick comments in the next bound edition that it had been about two years since people stopped canning foods -- implying that, yes, it was between 1 1/2 to 2 years at that point since the end of the world, and given some (ahem) new situations with Carl in the latest issue, Carl is between 14 and 16 now.

So, I'd say it's 5 years max into the time line from the day the dead first walked is where Kirkman has us as of Feb 2015 in the comic.

On the TV show, that would put them right about at the 1 1/2 to 2 year mark, I think.

Thanks, that helps. I did not know Kirkman was muttering up the timelines on purpose. For the preview of next week, its obvious its hot and they need water, so it must be summer again. Karl is growing!

Horrible episode, it dragged on for too long. They only have 6 episodes, use the time wisely. Tyrese's death is unexpected, but the Walking Dead math doesnt allow for too many black guys at the same time.

Well -- we're back on track! Boring episode, but acceptable given how it ended -- with the introduction of Aaron!

Aaron is a somewhat important character -- at least in terms of moving the story forward -- so now it's time to meet

I really hope they figure out a way to bring Andrea back... they're gonna need someone in the bell tower who can shoot

Also... we're getting closer to the All Out War arc

How did Aaron know Rick was the leader? How could he know that? Clue me in.

Aaron had been keeping an eye on the group to determine what kind of people they are. He's the one that left the water out on the road and at the end of the episode he had determined they were good enough people to approach and perhaps take with him.

Jordo! touched on what this will lead to in his spoiler, and I'd bet they migrate Andrea's comic book sniper skills over to Sasha or Carol.

Yep -- he's been tracking them and, my guess is, he'll turn out to be the one who left out the water bottles.

Good point on Sasha or Carol (although that does influence some other things for Rick... ), although we never did actually see Andrea die... it's not impossible, but I have a feeling you are right and somebody else will fill her void.

It will be interesting to see who picks up the reigns of Andrea's other plot points since there doesn't seem to be an obvious character in that position at the moment, nor can I see it with any of the existing group.

We didn't see her die, but it was heavily implied, especially with the nice chunk Milton appeared to have taken out of her when they finally got to her.

Thoughts on last night's episode? I liked it but thought Rick's Debbie Downer attitude got a little repetitive. I completely understand where he's coming from and why he is that way, especially after Terminus but at least do something more with it. That's just me though...

Rick is to the point he trusts no one. From the previous episode. He is dead until the end of the "war". They are "The Walking Dead." It may of been a little reptitive but I guess they were showing he wouldn't budge and is ready to kill anyone that tries to bring harm to the group/family.

I thought the ending to the episode was the best part. From the scene where Rick told Michionne he doesn't think anything can make him go in the compound. But is at least willing to go check it out. Then the only thing that would make him enter was the sound of children playing.

Although I found it strange that once they were inside there were no kids and it sounded like they were just on the other side of the gate.
