I'd have preferred to have seen somebody like Cronenberg direct it and re-write the screenplay, but that would have frightened off a large portion of the audience.

While I loved the movie, I have to agree, the idea of Cronenberg doing something with that concept would be absolutely amazing. Well, more so if he did it 20 years ago, but still.
