Thoughts on Walker's last film
So watching The Fast and The Furious as an eleven year old kid, I was fascinated by all of the cars and stunts. I have to say, I may not have been the car enthusiast I am today if it were not for those films. When the Z33 was the featured antagonist for Tokyo Drift, I was on the edge of my seat. I saw the latest film on the opening weekend, and I just wanted to see if I was the only one who really appreciated what they did for Paul. I didn't realize how emotional I was about it! I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it, but I will say that it was very respectful. Am I just a big girl or did this movie leave anyone else with chills?

I watched F&F up til Tokyo Drift, I'm somewhat picky with movies so I know that sequels don't always do better than their original. I decided that after Tokyo Drift that any more films were just going to get worse so I avoided the rest.
The ONLY reason I saw Furious 7 was for Paul Walker, I fully expected it to be a hyper-unrealistic movie with ridiculous explosions and car crashes and stunts to make it action packed to counter a boring plot and I was right. I'm sure they'll come up with F&F 8-12 before they say "know what? I think we're good, shut it down." Spoilers below if you've seen it.

Just some of the weird things they got away with.

because it's a movie lol it's entertaining so who really cares if it's not super realistic. I go for the fun factor and the love of the series. I've grown up with the FF series and the PW tribute was actually hard to sit through for me. which is weird because I really don't give 2 fucks about any celebrities but this is different. also what should have bothered you wasn't the Rock ripping a mini-gun with no ammo or power but the fact Paul keeps shifting a GT-R with the stick in 2 movies now.....and not the paddles. there's where your realism meter should go off lol

Anyway, I haven't seen FF7 yet, but like OP, I was 13 or 14 when the first one came out. Probably wouldn't be into cars as much as I am if it wasn't for that movie. I'll be sure to catch it in theaters.

Duh, he had a roll cage in the car mentioned in the first scenario, therefore he was unharmed.

I was already well into the scene by the time the first one came out. With that being said from the cheers that erupted out of the group of friends when we saw the first trailer in the theater to sitting and watching 1-5 with my Son I accepted the franchise for what it was.
The target audience is not strictly just car enthusiasts. We all moan and groan at how inaccurate the race scenes were and how bad the dialog was along with the acting. But I'll be damned if not one of us walked out of any of those movies with an urge to go drive the hell out of our cars. The movie HAD to be Hollywoodized or it wouldn't have attracted a larger audience who wanted to see good looking actors and a ton of action. Fast cars, explosions, wrecks, guns etc is the formula for an action movie. Would I watch a F&F movie over Beetlejuice narrating a secret race between a few supercars? I think I would. With that being said, Paul Walker lived his life in a way a lot of us think we would if given the opportunity. That's what makes his passing so sad. Any guy with that kind of car collection and dying the way he did really does back up the fact that he was very much an enthusiast. Just like the rest of us. And if that thought doesn't stick with you at the end of Fast 7, well you won't need a kleenex then. Just be warned the lights come on pretty quick at the end, don't get caught being a softy if that is going to ruin your image. Any F&F movie without him is going to be missing a huge element.

It's the special edition midnight Opel. Only one in existence with a stick shift dual-clutch auto. For real though. I was 19 when the first came out. Been a long-time fan of Paul Walker and not just because of the movies but because he was a genuinely good person and inspired millions. Never became arrogant and actually raced. His passion was the same on and off the big screen. Wish there were more like that guy. As for the movie, I wasn't horribly emotional at the end. Just thought the send off was a rather spiritual one. Fitting. I was much more moved at the end of FF6 and the memorial thing they did there. But anyway. It's a movie. It was funny as hell and I loved the stunts and crazy ****. Never seems to disappoint. |

I have never been a fan of the series but I do remember when I had (I was forced) to go to the movie theater to see the 1st Fast and Furious almost fourteen years ago. I was a car enthusiast (the beginning stages) and odd enough I thought the movie was full of "ricer" stuff. Then to top it all I remember seen a few human beings painting their Mitsubishi Eclipse neon green and adding graphics just like the movie. I remember seen a few Chevy cavaliers and other odd models copying the paint scheme from F&F. I always manage to stay away from that scene of bad taste paint jobs, neon lights and all the other child stuff that such franchise was able to "resurrect".
Going back a few years and there was the 5th and the 6th. The last two were not so bad since some of the auto stuff was a bit more "realistic". I will make the sacrifice (maybe not) and If I find the strength and will I will go to the movie and watch the 7th part. In my opinion the acting was getting better with time and Paul Walker was not disappointing at anyone since he was getting better from movie to movie. The plot lines are getting more interesting as time goes by but I really hope they don't turn this movies into a competition with the Friday the 13th franchise. I don't think I would be able to take 12 doses of the same difference.
