Bump it up

I don't get it. You want someone to give you their car for seven days, allow you to make modifications, and dyno test it (not without some risk) and all the owner gets is a discount on the installed part (a prototype, no less) and the tune? I'm guessing there will be no compensation for use of the pics. I wouldn't drive across the street for that "bargain." But that's just me. Good luck finding a taker.

I actually don't see it as a bad trade off compared to what some larger companies offer.

Depends on the discount. If it were just paying for the materials cost, it might be a good deal.

If someone else likes that deal then I say more power to 'em. I just think that, if someone is giving up their car for a week, the parts and tune should just be left on the car. The cost of the prototype part is, for all intents and purposes, zero and the tune needs to be done to do the tests (removing the tune after the test sounds a lot like the gov't spending more money to close some parks than it would cost to leave them open). But that's just the opinion of Sum Dum Guy on the Intertubes. ;)

So SouthArk370z you are not interested I take it???

Well the parts are not free I have to buy the aluminum pipe, air filters, the mas flanges have to be cnc'd, I don't make these parts magically appear. So there is cost.... Also I know the price will be the cheapest you will ever find/ could build your own intake system for.

The tune is free you just have to pay for UpRev license fee if you are not already UpRev tuned. I would like to get a few cars in the door for this offer.

We felt the intake prices for the 370z are very high & feel we can offer a very high quality intake for a great price.

I don't think I'm going to drive halfway across the country even if it was a proven design and there was no charge. But that's just me. If you can find someone that is happy with the arrangement, then I wish all parties the best. Hooray for capitalism.

I understand that there are materials/fabrication costs involved and that a tune is not free - but it's just a prototype that would have to be built no matter what (ie, part of development costs) and the tune will also need to be done as part of the development process.

My main point is that rental on a 370Z (if you can find one for rent) for a week, plus the cost of renting something to drive while the car is being used as a guinea pig, is likely to be close to the cost of a prototype CAI and tune. Not to mention wear and tear from the dyno runs.

Just the opinions of Some Guy on the Intertubes. I hope you find someone that has a different POV. ;)

No I totally know what you mean about the wear & tear plus your out a car for the week. It is close also to the cost actually.

What intake are you currently running? If any how do you like it.

Engine intake (and the rest of the drivetrain) is stock and I like it. 332HP (or whatever it's actually putting out) is plenty for my DD.

After thinking on this some more, charging for the UpRev license sounds fair but I still think it would be most fair to trade the parts for use/wear of the car. If you weren't so far away, I might take you up on that deal. As it is, travel/lodging costs would be prohibitive for me, even if everything you did was free.

Good luck finding someone to participate but I'm not that person. You might have better luck finding a taker if you follow my suggestions - or maybe not.

Thank you.

We will follow your suggestions. Thank you for the help. Have a great weekend.
