WTB: ATI Blower Fan
 

I have an HD 5850 with a bad fan, so I wonder if any of you guys out there have fan sinks sitting around with good fans. Fans from 4xxx on up including dual GPU cards should work.

upgrade the fan/cooling. look for like a zalman or something made for that card.

I thought about it as well. There's the VF3000a. One owner managed to keep the heat spreader plate preventing the onboard components from frying. I wasn't sure about the strength of supporting the entire heatsink on 4 little screws.

perfect opportunity for liquid cooling?

Nah.. no worky on the liquid cooling with the setup I have right now, but I may look into getting the VF3000a the next time I decide to work on my PC.

How old is your card? ATI is good about fixing them.

It's a year old Sapphire Tech card, so I have to contact them instead. I was told to send the card to have them repair it, but I rather get the fan and replace it on my own. Anyhow, I've decided to stick to this noisy fan for awhile (goes away after 5-10 minutes) until I decide to get something along the lines of a 6870 or 6950, or maybe late next year when they release 32nm GPUs. The 5850 is more than adequate for casual 1080p gaming (latest is Black Ops with maxed out settings).
