^^ Hope you can make it back Josh.

I took the drive today. Hwy T is pretty sweet. Lots of elevation change and swooping turns. Hwy 94 isn't in the best shape, but it's definitely doable. It should be fun, see you guys tomorrow!

Had a nice time today meeting up with everyone. Did you guys end up getting to get past the road block on 94? I saw on the news a motorcyclist died in a wreck and that's what had it shut down.

Oh man that's awful. I wonder if it was one of those two sport bikes that passed us fast on that straight stretch. So sad.

Seems wrong to follow that kind of news with pics, but here's some anyway.

Jason, sorry to hear about your brothers friend. Very sad.

On a happier note, I had a great time today. Hope everyone had fun on the cruise (when we weren't behind any traffic). I know it's a little early to plan another one, but Central Illinois Z Enthusiast Club (CIZE) just got in touch and said they have a cruise planned for June 23rd. They invited everyone to join. Here are the details...

Quote:
Saturday, June 23*

Meet up with interested members at the Piasa bird just north of Alton on the River Road. Pull out at 11:00 a.m. bound for Grafton.*

Lunch at the Hawg Pit in Grafton around 11:30*

After pigging out on BBQ, climb back into the Z's and head west to the Brussells Ferry. Cross the Illinois on said ferry, then head for Hardin and Kampsville on county highway 1, then take 96 and 54 into Louisiana, MO.*

From Louisiana we'll head north on highway 79, which runs right along the bluff side of the Mississippi and is one of the prettiest drives around. Good road, great views. There's a nice scenic overlook or two where we can pull off and get some dynamite pictures. Perfect for a herd of Z's.*

Arrive in Hannibal whenever we get there (should be sometime later afternoon). Stop at Sawyers Creekhttp://www.sawyerscreek.com/*for sandwiches and whatever we want to do, including b.s.'n about our cars.*

Then head for home, however we want to go. Springfield folks can head back on I-72, St. Louis area people can go back down 79 or 61, and us Metro East Illinois folks will most likely backtrack down the Illinois side.*

Should be a wonderful run.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I am scared of riding my bike (when I had it) on 94 due to all the winery boozers

This is kind of a long read but it is interesting. It is a series of conversations between the president of Gateway Z Club and the president of Central Illinois Z Club. This River Road Run on June 23 is causing a little bit of friction, to say the least.

Quoted from Facebook.................

Gateway Z Club, Inc.
June 6 near Maryland Heights via mobile
While this sounds like a nice run, it is NOT a club event. The club is racing early the next morning at family arena. As always check the calendar of events for our club happenings.

Gateway Z Club, Inc. please when planning an event
1. ASK the board if it's feasible.
2. Don't step on another's event
3. get approval BEFORE posting.
4. read your by-laws.
thank you.

William Atteberry This is a PM I got from Tammi and my reply. Just thought I would share with the Gateway Z Club for them to decide.

Hey Bill! Just a heads up. Next time someone tells you of a random "club event" be sure to check with me first. We plan our events well in advance so as to not conflict with other events. Steve and Mike did not present this to the board for approval at all. They are stepping all over Kevin's racing event the next day. I will be taking it off our site.

My response:
William Atteberry

How is an event the day before stepping on an event the next day. These are cars we are talking about, not animals that need to be rested before a next days race. Fill the tank, change or check the tires and race! If it was the same day i would understand but it is not. So if i called you or Steve and said we are coming down to do the wine area next Saturday does anyone want to meet up that this would have to be brought up for a vote first. Thats ********! You came up here and we extended a hand to you and we want to come that way and you snub us! Not sure how you run your club but if our members want to do something it does not take an act of congress, just a phone call. If myself or Marc can't do it, then we support our members to go ahead with their plans and to spread our name. It may be time for your club to take a hard look at the way it is ran and maybe change its ways. Not everybody can follow the leader, jobs, family and life sometimes over ride club plans but the club goes on.
I think you owe our club an apology !

Gateway Z Club, Inc. and this is my response

Well number one, I don't know if you are familiar with autocrossing, but we have to be there around 6 am to set up for our racers. It takes a lot of prep for several days before. Cars don't need sleep but the racers have to be Sharp to stay safe on the track.
Number two, yes it would have to be brought up and not last minute to be counted as a club event. We work very hard for months to avoid a situation like this. It's terrible we were both put in this position in the first place.
Number three, a lot of preplanning and notification preceded the event we had up there. It was not a last minute thing by any means. We are not snubbing you. If we were I wouldn't have worked so hard personally on that trip.
Number four, our club does have a structure. That's part of why we've lasted for 36 years. Event procedure is in our by-laws. Unfortunately they never even bothered to ask the board anything at all first. Totally behind our backs. I would have been gratefull to have been given a chance to guide them. We could have avoided this vitriol. I was never given the opportunity like you say you and Marc would have been given. Unfortunately, I was put in the middle because they didn't see fit to give me any idea what they wanted to do.
Like I said we work very very hard on our calendar to avoid this kind of thing happening. It was thoughtless of them to do this to both of us.
I am very sorry you were misled.
Life circumstances are the exact reason we plan ahead. Life circumstances are also the reason we have our members preplan events. To plan contingencies and take the whole club into consideration. To do otherwise is selfish.
As president, my first duty will always be to do what's best for the club as a whole. I have to think of everybody. Not just to accommodate one person to the detriment of the club.
I would never criticize you and how you run or don't run your club. You may not be familiar with how our club and other structured established clubs operate. We have by-laws to go by and its my job to see we follow them.
I have every respect for you and I would appreciate the same from you. I would never go behind your back and plan something with your club without your knowledge. Call it club courtesy.

Gateway Z Club, Inc. Our club is not planning an event that day. Just one individual is. my understanding is this was supposed to be our river road run in october which was agreed upon by everyone.

And Bill remember who was the one to initiate contact with your newly formed group, who was the one to propose meeting in Springfield, who was the one who made all the arrangements for all of us, who was the one who suggested we get together for the river road run in October?????

Gateway Z Club, Inc. I don't know where this meaness is coming from. I would never disrespect you in such a way. It's wrong to pit club members against each other, It's petty to promote dissension between clubs. So don't use our club in that way.

William Atteberry As of right now June 23rd is a CIZE club. We are open to all Z's and people who love Z's. Anyone from the Cize club, Gateway Z club or anybody else who wants to see beautiful country and drive their Z's.
Tammi I am not going to go into the other BS because that is what its is BS!
I will give you some advice though and you do with it what you want. I would start running your club as a fun place for people to go to not a governed body. I think you might find yourself in the middle of a coup

Gateway Z Club, Inc. But you did at the expense of our club. And your crazed overreaction to my giving you a heads up is frankly scary. That one member does not speak for the club or make decisions for the club. Again; we do not double up club events on the weekends. Our members have lives, by doubling up you force them to split the club up. That just promotes non-participation and fractures the club spirit.
I know you are inexperienced and just thinking of yourself, but YOU or HE are not the ones running this club. The club officers oversee it. And we do the best we can. We have by-laws for a reason. To avoid conflicts like this. He chose to go against them. See what happened?
When we talked so much last year when you were getting your club up, you asked for my advice. I reiterate: run your own club the way you want. You're brand new, wet behind the ears. I, myself have been a member of this wonderful 36 year old club for close to 12 years, I've missed 1 meeting in 9 years, been secretary for 8 years, been president for 3. I've gone through births, deaths and weddings with these people. I love em like a second family. I can only hope someday you both can look beyond yourselves for the good of your clubs.

William Atteberry I think you like to here yourself talk, I don't remember asking you for advice on our club at all! Not sure what kind of a pipe dream world you live in but I don't need your help or advice. It sounds like to me that it is the Tammi Gateway Z Club. I tell you what, i was told you always had to have the first word and the last but not this time.

William Atteberry You need to come down off of your high horse and be put back into reality. I have talked to more people from your club other than the person you are bad mouthing and all are tired of the dictatorship ways you run your club. One said he hasn't been to one of your meetings in years because he was bored. Others just say they are tired of your bossiness at every event. Gotta ask yourself "whats wrong with this picture?"
