Twin Cities Z Club timed rally event - final plans
 

Updated plans!


So here's the plan:

Saturday, August 25th
Meeting time at my house by 1130 (at the latest!)
First 5 cars leave at noon (sharp); 1 minute intervals.
BYOB (beverages and beef) for party after driving event

This is every person for themselves.
Each person will have a map that we plan on providing.
Bring your camera phones fully charged.
Only the event organizer (Tara) will know the way points and estimated driving times.
At the start of the event, everyone will get a list of way points.
Rules, maps, lists, and everything else will be discussed at 1130.

Each car will leave at one minute intervals and drive to each way point in the order given.
When the car arrives at that way point, the driver will take a photo of the landmark and text it to Tara.
A poster sized score card will be maintained to track the texts (time rcvd).
Once you send the text, move on to the next point and do the same thing.
Finish the event by returning to my house.

No one will know the base time between each segment. This ensures that no one can really cheat, but everyone must obey the rules of the road. In other words, take your time because whoever comes closest to the base time for each segment wins that segment.

When everyone gets back to the house, Tara will go over the segments, the times, etc. WE can also share our stories. :D

Finally, the winner who wins the most segments will get the jackpot prize. The prize will consist of the buy-in money for this event. To enter, have $10 in cash before the event. This fee is per car. This guarantees a commitment for each driver to show up and finish the event.

Does this mean no passengers are allowed? I ride with my wife...

I think we're rethinking that because not everyone has a cellphone with a camera, and some people like to bring their significant others.

With that in mind, I think we will consider changing the rules to say you can bring a navigator. If a participant can't find a navigator, then they're on their own.

Otherwise, people will be at my house monitoring the event.

Okay, I edited the original post. My wife and I feel the same way about having another person in the car, and so do other Z enthusiasts I met with tonight.

Hey Smooth Z - looks like we may ride :tiphat: - Just need directions to the meeting place at 11:30a

This will be our 1st MN Z event.... We were on our Honda Valkyrie for MN meets for the last 11 years before we got the Roadster...

Copy and paste the list of participants and add it to the thread to keep it updated. I think my wife is more excited than I am.

Can I show for the after party?

Where are you coming from? You sure you don't want to try the rally?

I'm coming from Prior Lake and missing a key component for the Rally. i.e. phone with text message. I don't have much interest in the Rally anyway.

:( Okay, well we'd still like to have more Z's over for the after party. I'm guessing that we'll be done by 3:30 so show up by 4 and you should be good.

How about we meet for drinks and a walk on the beach first? LOL

Count Cathy & I (Jerry) for the Rally.....
I have my 2010 Roadster at Inver Grove Nissan to get Final drive fixed.

There is a leak on the rear pinion gear...anyone else had this problem?

Just a reminder that we are planning on having a party afterwards, so bring whatever you want to eat and drink. I'll have the grill ready for burgers and what not.

Don't forget to fill up your tank, bring $10 for the winner's pot, grab a paper map if you have one, and show up between 11am and 1130. Rain or shine, this is happening.
