Did he make 3 pulls in all, or was one of them a test pull? I forgot. It looked like he already plotted 3 pulls, and then later corrected the numbers. I did remember seeing 9.1 PSI at 6k RPM on the plot, and then the printout showed 9.33.

My friend is still pretty sick, so he hasn't been able to provide me the pictures yet. He got back from a 2 day trip with my dad to get his new boat from Virginia and barely got any sleep. The plan is to put together a video showing stock, 6 PSI, and 9 PSI pulls (from 50 mph in 3rd, and a 1st to 4th test) along with the dyno and some better driveby videos.

No...he only did the three pulls. If I remember correctly the first was the best for him...which was around 277whp. As far as being sick...right there with him. Sucks hardcore..:inoutroflpuke:

All three were done. The first was my best and Tower has the right number. I personally was hoping for mid 280's, so I was a little disappointed. Now back to studying which way I want to go for FI. The stock car does hit max torque very early and holds it to just short of redline. I'm more interested in increasing torque. Horsepower is great but we need torque more.

edub370 03-09-2012 08:13 AM

^^ Agreed. torque gives the perception of speed more than hp. i want to FEEL the power in my car. i also was expecting anywhere between 285-290whp. maybe some ark pipes or something woulda changed that.

seems like the only FI kit that doesnt give a HUGE bump in torque is stillen SC kit. but even those guys are seeing well over 300lb/ft

DIGItonium 03-10-2012 09:50 AM

You guys are right, under 280 whp is what I would think most stock pulls are. I forgot you guys have minor bolt on upgrades. That's definitely a heart breaker dyno, but my results feel very realistic (i.e., my butt dyno doesn't report more than 450whp haha).

I've always attributed my results to conservative out of the box tune for 91 octane. As much as I would love to get a more aggressive tune I'm told that it's more than adequate and "safe" for daily driving. With this much power, things get squirrelly in 3rd and 4th! It's plenty for everyday driving especially when it's so easy to get 4-5 PSI at half throttle versus barely without a boost controller.

As I've said it many times with the 370Z, the throttle response isn't as aggressive as the DE/HR 350Z.

My shorties don't add anything but noise and looks...my exhaust is an CBE only, so not much gain there...the canned tune doesn't really add much hp but the throttle response is better. In other words, mine is stock really.

We have had the one of the warmest winters I can remember. Roads were in good conditions 95% of the time. VDC on????? Only when it's wet or when I forget to turn it off.

It took my friend forever to get me the photos from our recent meet. I finally got the dyno vids and am currently working on a YouTube video. I just need drive by footage to finish up the video.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks, Ethan. It's a quick compilation of the 3 dyno runs, results, and 3rd gear pull comparison (stock, 6 PSI, and 9 PSI). Difference doesn't look like much since it's a straight pull at 60 MPH. I tried to trim the vids to align them and used the stopwatch app on my phone to approximate the times. I'm going to try to record video of the boost gauge to monitor max boost in 3rd, and then get some good drive by footage.

With the new transmission and clutch working well, I was able to achieve a nice no lift shift from 3rd to 4th haha.

damn i bet that thing is on beast mode now. for real, i was so impressed with how linear and smooth the power was in your car

DIGItonium 05-20-2012 04:44 PM

Finally... completed the video!

I couldn't find anyone to help me with the camera so I was a bit creative today...
