Z Meet Sunday Oct 23 Columbia, MO

Trying to see about getting a few of us around here for a meet (KC,STL,and anybody else from around). We’ve got some good roads for a drive. Was thinking about meeting up at either one of the local winery’s (Les Bourgeois). Which is just off I-70 about 10 min west of Columbia or Cosmo park which is just off exit 124 here in Columbia. Meet up sometime late morning or early afternoon, go for a drive, then got plenty of places to eat!! Any other thoughts or ideas feel free to let me know!!

edub370 09-17-2011 11:25 PM

I'm definately down. I think the winery idea sounds pretty good. I hear the roads out in that area are great. It would be cool to get some Stl/iowa area guys in on this to get a good turnout.

lynx 09-18-2011 11:48 AM

I'm in!

StLRedrider 09-18-2011 03:38 PM

im game!!!!

edub370 09-20-2011 03:54 PM

surely we can get more interest than 3 people in this whole area....

edge573 09-20-2011 05:08 PM

I hope so! Yeah the winery would be best to meet at. There's a good route to take right from the winery thats all back country roads, nice in curvy! About a 45 min route that leads right in to Columbia.

white370j 09-20-2011 11:56 PM

i may go

mcconned 09-21-2011 05:59 PM

There are some GREAT roads in that area. Look at the county or state hiways that run from I-70 down to US 50. One road runs close to the MO River to Jeff City. Oh yeah, there's another road east of the MO River (next exit east of Rocheport I believe) that takes you into Columbia and can take you to Rock Bridge State Park.

sboden 09-21-2011 09:11 PM

I was just at the winery this last weekend. Nice area.

edub370 09-22-2011 08:02 AM

either of u two down to go? :driving:

zcar_dad 09-22-2011 09:48 AM

I could be tempted to attend. Could be a warmup for Heartland Park on the 26th (the last touring day for the year).

edub370 09-22-2011 10:11 AM

man that would be fun to attend. i will be out at heartland on the 16th with the porsche guys. always a good time.

But ya we should get a list goin or somethin so we have an idea of how many will be showin.

Yeah I agree!! I have been on both those routes. They are a blast. There also is another route north of that exit east of Rocheport that is great too. Are you guys interested in meeting up that weekend??

white370j 09-22-2011 11:47 PM

Meet at the Winery (Les Bourgeois) at Noon Sunday Oct 23. The drive is around 45 min. I would say with meet, drive and food 3-4 hrs. One of the guys here knows the owner of the winery and might be able to give us a group discount on dinner. So I'm waiting to hear back from him. That would be great to see a group of you guys make it.

thestclair 09-26-2011 11:27 PM

I'm new but would like to join in

Not quite sure if I know where that winery is, could you post directions from I-70? Thanks.

StLRedrider 09-27-2011 01:47 PM

Are we meeting at the winery or in columbia? I don't know my way around either!

edub370 09-27-2011 03:17 PM

Meeting in rocheport at the winery at noon from my understanding

winery location:

14020 West Highway Bb, Rocheport, MO - Google Maps

just type in your location in the get directions box to see how long it will take to get from your location the the winery

StLRedrider 09-27-2011 03:23 PM

Thank you, doesnt look to hard to find

mcconned 09-27-2011 06:18 PM

The winery is easy to find. From Kansas City take I-70 east. If memory serves me correctly it's exit 115(?). It's the first exit after crossing the Missouri River. Once you exit turn left (north) and it's a couple of miles on County Road BB on the left.

Just a note/observation...the winery has a very nice restaurant but 100-200 yards away is the A-Frame. It's a cool area with picnic tables, etc. and light snacks. You can bring meals from the restaurant over to enjoy there.

Either location offers GREAT views of the Missouri River valley.

Nice! that should be sweet. im really looking forward to this cruise. it'll be nice to get out and see some new roads!

edge573 09-29-2011 02:38 PM

Thats a great idea with the gopro. I need to get one of those.

Well I took a different route this am to see how long it would take. It was Awesome. I went south on 179 off of I-70, which takes you to Jefferson City. Then went up 54 to New Bloomfield, went west on route J to Y which comes out in Ashland. Then just up highway 63 to Columbia. The Route took right at 1.5hr. The roads have amazing turns and curves and are all newly black topped. Highway 179 is exit 111, just 4 miles west of the winery. Was just wanting to get an idea of how long people were wanting to cruise for? Does this work for everyone? or is it too long? Let me know what you guys think..

white370j 09-29-2011 05:48 PM

i think thats good. im down for anything.. how ever short or long it may be. sounds great.

mcconned 09-30-2011 11:35 AM

Hwy 179 is one of the roads I was thinking of earlier. It is a GREAT road.

sboden 10-08-2011 03:27 AM

After being gone the last 2 weeks, I feel I really need to get stuff done at home. I work 16 hours of OT this coming week and just need the time. I also just finished driving 1,261 miles on the twisty roads of Arkansas. I'll post pics at some point when I have time.

white370j 10-13-2011 11:47 PM

I just posted it on our site. The parade was terrific. Literally 10s of thousands of people along the route. This is definitely one of my favorite events we do.

I have attended the Porsche Club event in the past (as a spectator) and I know it's a lot of fun.
