Hey, as long as they have finally realized it's a problem that needs to be fixed. That's all that matters.

Ugh, just remembered that when I get home I have to pay to get my car licensed. There goes about $2200. I need to move to Texas so I don't have to pay personal property taxes every year on my vehicles. I'm guessing it's gonna go from $600 a year to $900+ for my 2 cars.

the new steering lock is crazy loud compared to the older one.

really hear it zip out when starting the car.

Mostly likely going to pull the fuse soon just in case since the new models dont have one anyway.

It is on early 2011 models also but Nissan isn't going to replace those even though they have the same version number which has also failed. The fix by Nissan was to remove it from 12 and 13 models.

They are not really fixing it which is my point. They are replacing it with a part which at some point in the future will fail again. You can say all parts will fail but this one is failing regularly before the warranty period is up, so how long will the replacement last????

If I contact Nissan for the steering lock work, does everyone have a particular dealer they recommend or one to avoid as far as maint work?

It depends. I know I go to Lee's Summit Nissan. I'm a little bias since I have bought 3 Z's from them. They have always done me right and they are by far the best car dealer I have every dealt with and this Z is probably the 17th car I have bought.
When I get back in town and the car licensed I'm going to take up there and get the first oil change and ask them about the steering lock recall.

You shouldn't need it as your car is new enough it shouldn't have the part in it. Now why would they do that if they didn't know for the last couple of years it was a problem....hhhhmmmm......

I know my car doesn't need it. Just checking to see if my dealer had the parts if anyone wanted to get it changed out

Well, Since my car was already torn apart from all the parts im painting, i went ahead and just pulled the fuse on mine even though its a later 2011. It still has the SLU you never know, so bye bye fuse. Took only 15 mins.

April 6th in KC, we are having a dyno dash. I have seen a few others from Joplin on here. So if you know them, come on up and hang out.
