Blue Springs here.

Some of you might know me from the other 350z site, but if not, I'm currently in Afghanistan. Just picked up 2010 #0218 Nismo a few days ago. As soon as I get home, I'll be looking forward to driving it and hopefully meeting some of you guys. We're pretty new to the area, so perhaps you guys can also show my wife and I where some of the cooler places in town is.

Nuki 06-14-2012 01:41 PM

Thanks. I'm glad to see this community is as active as it is. I was over there at the 350Z site back in its hey day and have made many friends over the years. Hoping to do the same here.

tower74 06-14-2012 03:32 PM

Welcome to the KC family. If i can get mine back up and running I'll rejoin the herd but as of now it's spitting out an ecu alarm and a random misfire......i hate STS.

Nuki 06-15-2012 05:59 PM

That sucks. Hope it all gets cleared up.

So I'm determined not to put too many mods into the Nismo until I get it closer to paid off, but the allure is hitting me hard. Maybe just an intake for now (thats how it always starts) or an exhaust at some point. However, I am thinking of doing some very (read VERY) slight cosmetic changes. Like powder coating the wheels black, along with the handles and badges. Maybe blacking out the tail lights also. We have anyone local you guys trust to do that stuff?

If you find a good powder coater, let me know. I've thought about doing my wheels in blk at some point also now that new wheels are out of the budget.

Scott, on another site I lurk on (there are so many!) they recommend Industrial Coatings Home page .I saw pictures of their work and it's very impressive. The site is Porsche related and you can imagine how particular those folks can be.

Win. Looks like I've found the place to powder coat my wheels. Gloss Black, here I come.

so i definitely blew it on friday. got waste deep in the datsun, and couldn't get it back to driving condition in time for fast fridays, grrrrr.

my z is looking at me like the neglected child

ima need some stuff PC'd soon too, let me know how it goes

edub370 06-18-2012 12:56 PM

bummer man. i still wanna see that thing. i am fast friday'd out.

need to find a new car meet or something around kc

JacksonZ33 06-18-2012 02:02 PM

agreed. not enough variety to keep me interested for more than 1 hour. plus it being on friday night is kinda tricky.

someone needs to start a KC Cars and Coffee.....

Unless I convince my wife to get it done for me while I'm overseas, I'd say it will be at least a month before I get it done. Probably one of the first things I'll do once I'm home from Afghanistan. I know I'll be getting it done so if someone else hasn't go to them until then.

Hmmm thats an idea. I tried to get a Cedar Rapids/Eastern Iowa Z thing going a few years ago, but we didnt have enough people to participate. Maybe a Cars and Coffee thing would work.

edub370 06-18-2012 04:09 PM

C&C would be awesome to have in kc!

KC really needs some legit car meets. texas 2k style or c&c style or something. just need to figure out how to get something like that goin

Nuki 06-18-2012 05:48 PM

Lemme reach out to some of my guys on my350z.com. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them know how to get something like this started.

JacksonZ33 06-19-2012 11:44 AM

you'd have to include the corvette's and domestics prolly, but I think theres a huge untapped auto community here in kc. and being centrally located could bring people in from other states

edub370 06-19-2012 12:50 PM

me and my roommate were talking about this yesterday. as u see from ff, there are plenty of vipers, lambos, ferraris, and ls cars around. along with all the import and euros. finding where they hide is the hard part

tower74 06-19-2012 01:36 PM

@ Nuki....is yours a black nismo? If so does it have Illinois plates? Seen a black 370 this morning . Lenexa area .

Nuki 06-19-2012 01:38 PM

Quite possibly. Not sure about the plates, I figure they still have the dealer tags on them. Most likely in the eastern side of town.

mcconned 06-20-2012 10:07 AM

Re. Cars & Coffee, I approached a business owner a few years back about sponsoring this but got no response. His business would have been great as it's located on a major street, lot's of traffic, and less than a block from Starbucks.

In researching C&C in St. Louis and Oklahoma City, they both are held at a Starbucks. Maybe approach a local Starbucks about hosting this?

I noticed on the OKC C&C Facebook page they have a code of conduct such as no burnouts, no speeding, etc.

If I recall, the C&Cs are held on Saturday mornings from 8 or 9 a.m. to noon.

Good luck!

Nuki 06-20-2012 10:44 AM

When I get home from A'stan, I'll gladly volunteer and help coordinate. Can't do much from over here, but I can use my resources over at my350z to get information.

JacksonZ33 06-21-2012 03:37 PM

edub370 06-22-2012 07:52 AM

me and the gf were thinking about going down to earueka springs around the 4th-7th. anyone have any good recommendations of stuff to do down there?

/anyone else wanna cannonball down for a day or 2?

sboden 06-22-2012 08:40 AM

The pig trail...actually lots of really good places to drive. I'll get you some places to eat but it is mostly about the driving. I've done quite a few events down there.

edub370 06-22-2012 09:13 AM

thats what im lokoing forward to. first real trip in the z. how far away is beaver lake?

tower74 06-22-2012 06:31 PM

Well the car is fixed for now...Found that the douches at Executive installed more or less dirt bike spark plugs in my car!!!! Also had found that the intake valve timing control solenoid valve was stuck wide open. We had found it by accident when cleaning the oil off it...dumb luck but I'll take it!!! $300 later but it's running with some new HKS High Performance spark plugs plus a cam sensor. I'm seriously thinking about calling a lawyer to see if I can file a lawsuit against them. Between STS and Executive they have cost me almost $3000 worth of extra labor, lost work, missing parts etc. in the last 6 months.

Seriously, they should be held accountable for their actions. If you're out money, and can prove it, take em to court. You're doing everyone a favor. Personally, I'd put the information out there so that they lose business too.

Finally looked at a map (sorry still new to the KC area) and yeah theres a good possibility the Nismo would have been in that area. Was there a hot looking asian woman driving it?

Trust me I am seriously thinking about doing it. If my tuner ( Chad @ Modified by Kansas City) can ever get UpRev to send him his tuning license and I can get my car tuned properly then I will be writing a full story on everything I have had to go through with this install. Started at $7500 and now I'm going past $15k :ugh2: ($3500 on body mods) the rest is on the turbo mod.

Couldn't tell the windows were tinted and she was moving pretty quick. My work truck (F350 Crew Cab) does really move to quick.:driving:

Lloyd, I love hearing that it was something small. Seems like every problem u have had with this kit have as stemmed from something executive has done. How's the car run with the new plugs and new control valve

Eureka Springs is one of my favorite places!!! As Sboden mentioned, there are some FANTASTIC roads there including the Pig Trail. The highway to get there shoots right out of E.S. Don't know if you're into the arts but the new Crystal Bridges Gallery in Bentonville is fantastic. It's worth the drive just so see the facility.

Here is a link to help you find some great roads. Just click on Arkansas. There are some FANTASTIC roads in the Harrison, AR. area.

So I'm curious then, when I get home tp KC, where would you recommend I go driving the Nismo? From what little time I've spent there, it seems plenty of the major freeways have some nice long sweepers here and there. They all seem well maintained, but I could go for a route that puts the Z's handling to good use.

sboden 06-23-2012 07:12 PM

Southern Missouri or Arkansas for the real roads (twisty) which is about 3 to 4 hours away. One of the reasons I make a couple of trips to Arkansas a year. My next 1 week camping/driving trip is the end of September. I'm the safety/carry stuff car for my motorcycle group. We put about 1,200 miles of twisties on our vehicles at that time each year. I have fun (even though it is not a motorcycle) because I don't slow them down. We have occasional problems such as tire punctures, and such so can you think of a better safety vehicle to follow the pack lol.

About the same....Went to Nissan today to have them order me a new solenoid vavle ( car is still under the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty). I think he was suprised I had the knowledge that I did about the part and it's location. I had to show him where it was located :shakes head:. I even told them I would change it out myself since it would only take me about 15 minutes not hours. Let's just hope Nissan isn't going to kick it back since I had fixed the issue and the check engine light is off.
