Best Chicago area dealer for service?

Who is the best dealer in the Chicago area for routine service?

Any good independent shops who specialize in Zs?

Thanks

Autobarn Nissan in Evanston (just north of the city), they are a sponsor over on the local Z club, chicagoz.com

If you looking for custom stuff, check out ProjectX Customs in Glenview, or GRD Performance in Villa Park.

I have used Ultimate Z in Streamwood for my HFC and CBE install. The place looks a bit run down but their mechanic KT knows what he is doing. Routine service I do myself so can't help with dealer advise there.

I've become a fan of Project X as well. Good bunch of guys, know what they're doing, and customer service oriented. I've used Ultimate Z as well for my HFC install last year...also a good experience. GRD installed my CBE and frankly I was disappointed. They did a fine job installing it, but my 30 min quote turned into a 2 1/2 hour waiting game. They kept stopping work on my car to work on other random cars. Very displeased with my wasted morning.

Any of you guys know any good shops in the Chicago area other than the ones listed already?

I need one that is trust worthy and actually does good work without scratch/damaging your car.

Also, I am looking for someone that paint rims.

Hi Guys, just want to comment on the good service and prices I got at the Autobarn Nissan of Evanston. Will definitely buy from them again:ugh2:

I've recently been to Bill Kay Nissan in Downer's Grove. They're by far the best Nissan dealer I've ever been to. Sorry Autobarn, they're better than you too.

I haven't seen any recent posts about where people go for Nissan maintenance and service, so I think it might be a good time to revisit!

Just got a 2010 370Z that will need a 60k mi service soon. I also want to see about
  • installing a backup camera
  • getting a spare fob
  • getting new wheel locks since one is missing and the Mercedes dealer that sold me the car didn't have the key for the other 3 locks

I'm looking in the Edison Park area specifically, but am willing to drive out to a reputable place. Yelp had some scary results for Star, Martin, and Mid-City.

Anyone got a place they swear by?

I've never had any issues with MID CITY NISSAN. Going rate for labor is about 131.85 based on 6 months of receipts. Used them when I needed them to inspect my clutch, replace a/c, oil changes, and general service intervals. Make an appointment and be there on time, they get busy pretty quick and it can be a wait depending on how many cars were there before you. I drop off and get a call 1-2 hrs later that they're done most of the time. Not an issue seeing as the dealer is 5 min from home.

I would go with what the previous posts have said. I generally try to avoid dealership service departments. Not all are bad, but a lot of the mechanics there are too used to working on Altimas and Sentras so they don't treat the Z with care.
