I asked the cage builder to use the harness bar as the seat back brace (as required for my aluminum ultra shield seat) and this resulted in the bar being mounted too low for the proper shoulder strap angle.

Luckily, this can be cheaply and easily fixed by welding in a section of tube between the main hoop and cross brace. I could have done it right away but I really wanted to get my car back and I had a bet with my wife that it would be done today (she thought it would be another 2 months…). Anyway I had always intended to use the stock seat belts for street driving (because it is actually illegal to drive on the street with a harness). I will make sure this gets done before my first track day.

I am picking up the Z after my wife gets off of work at 4:00 p.m. I will have pictures later tonight.
That's awesome news! Im getting more and more interested everyday.

Sorry about the wait. It was dark when I got home and the pictures were not very good. Also, while my car was away I had purchased some carbon fiber cloth fabricated a splitter to replace my old plywood/fiberglass one (weighs about 5lbs compared to 13lbs) . I spent last night trying to see if the mounting system I came up with would work.

And she has been sitting outside all month and really needs a good cleaning (clay bar, polish, wax, etc...).

I promise to post a write up and some pictures in my original post today.

And the shop was EB3 Motorsports in Manassas (really closer to Gainesville) VA. The owner (cage builder) is a great guy who you can tell really loves to build cages.

However, remember he has been building cages for drag cars for decades. He readily admits that he does not do many SCCA or NASA cages (or bars). So make sure that you print out the roll cage requirements for whatever series you run (or aspire to run) when you drop off your car.

Rollbar looks great! If I ever decide to dedicate this as a track car, I may have to look them up.
