My day in court for a speeding Nismo

Well, in AA county I got 1 point and 150 fine for a ticket I got in the Nismo last fall. It was going to be 5 points and 400. I pleaded being guilty and stupid and got it reduced....whew! With 5 points I probably would have sold the V and not driven for a few years due to insurance being jacked.....

Yes... Now that you have admitted your guilt. Spill...

Good to know. I'll have one coming up soon myself. Hoping to get reduced to zero points (vs. 2 on the citation).

So, 5 points - you must've been doing more than 20 mph over the speed limit in a 65 mph zone, yes?

It was 70 in a 35 zone on Patuxent river road, the part that has that nice left sweeper then the drop leading into the right uphill to the left again.....I was lucky in that I had no prior Ike's or violations in the past three years. As we know the Nismo just kind of wants to be flogged on those twisty roads. The V is more sedate but will kill any Nismo in a drag race, and though it's not bad in a sweeper turn, its not really a tight twisty road car. Then again I have not found its limits yet....but I'll tone it down a bit on Patuxent river road.....for now.

BTW, all the people that pleaded innocent were found guilty anyhow....

In Maryland, it is almost always worth the time to take it to court. Worst case scenario, you'll pay the fine plus court costs, but I usually see the judge decrease the fine by court costs. They may also reduce the points. Best case scenario, the officer fails to appear, providing no evidence that you were speeding, case dismissed. But you could also get Probation Before Judgment (Or Differed Adjudication), where you pay court costs and everything is dropped as long as you're good for a period of time. This is usually granted if it's your first offense or you've had a clean driving record for a long time.

Either they changed the rules, or I got popped by state boy (honestly don't remember) but on the citation I had the option to request a trial or a waiver hearing. Since I was guilty and I knew it, I requested the waiver hearing and I'm going to ask for PBJ. I haven't been ticketed since 2010 and I got PBJ then so my record's clean.
