My Wife and I car watch as much as we people watch. More power to them, I can laugh at their ridiculous looking car. And in 10 years, when they look at it, they can laugh too.
I am a much larger fan of function. It pains my logical mind to see a sports car laden with rims and tires that clearly do not fit "correctly". What's nearly as bad is watching all those 90's trucks with every glue on exterior mod known to man with their 14" tires sticking out the wheel well because their retarded offsets and spacers. I don't understand it. Hey Jackass, how about you kick up more rocks? Wish I can find a picture.

Fashion over function.
Now, whether or not you like it is a mater of taste... But... keep in mind, part of the "art" or style is to see how far you can go, which is why you will see some cars that border on the cartoonish. In other words -- it's more of an art project than a vehicle, after a certain point, and that's where it will start to get a bit silly.

I think it looks silly but like I said, that's just my opinion. I genuinely wanted an explanation - that's all.

Not to mention that any tire engineer will likely tell you that the tires are not designed to be driven with the load on that portion of the sidewall over extended periods of time (other than hard cornering). It's asking for all kinds of bad and unpredictable things to happen. And I'd bet that the majority of drivers with their cars set up like this are not experienced enough to properly handle the car when a tire pops off the wheel. I also wonder how often they check their tires for excessive wear to be sure they aren't worn down to the core. However, you're right, it's their car and they can do what they want - I'm not arguing against that point. But when they are putting innocent drivers in their vicinity at risk, it needs to be called out for what it really is - stupid. When I encounter one of these cars on the freeway, I give them a wide berth and move ahead while mentally pointing and laughing a them. Last edited by Dave N; 12-04-2012 at 02:51 PM. |

Dude you're not at all understanding what I'm saying. It's not the fact that the car is dropped that's the problem. It's the ridiculous wheel camber and tire stretching that's dangerous. Have you ever been to a really large car meet/show? Those guys are the ones driving the most like idiots both on their way there and when they leave.
