Looks like maybe those two black screws hold the HID casing in place which would give E/W what he needs.

Yeah that's precisely the part he needs. Oh right you can just go through the back of the housing to get at the bulbs. He should be good to go.

I'd actually like to take the whole piece, it looks like the two screws hold it in place. I dont think the "U" hook metal piece is what I need, I need the actual piece that retains the "U" hook.

Yeah, it looks pretty easy to swap out, without having to open the headlight, remember to get to this area, you take off the plastic cover in the back, turning it counter clockwise. Really simple.
