Powder coating in Northern VA

Can anyone recommend a reputable shop in the Northern VA area that does powder coating?

Altered mentioned one to me but I think they were actually in Maryland. I have to call them tomorrow and I can ask for you, if you want.

I'm in Atlanta, but I do mail order all over the country. UPS ground is only 2 days shipping. What are you wanting coated?

Wheels. If it were anything else I'd consider shipping.

yea, it costs about $60 to ship a set of wheels each way from VA to GA and boxing them is a pain.

I'm going to give them a call to see what they can do. I wonder if I would leave the car with them and they handle dismounting the tires and then re-mounting them or if they require that I just bring them the wheels.

Caravanshaka 08-20-2009 09:22 PM

I'd bet they need the tires dismounted...I doubt they invested in tire mounting and balancing equipment.

That's what I'm thinking.

I really want to powde rcoat the wheels gunmetal. I think it'd look good on red, especially sitting on Eibachs with some spacers...

Caravanshaka 08-20-2009 09:28 PM

red with dark rims always looks good to me. black or gun-metal will both work!

I'd be very surprised if they would dismount and remount for you. As a brake caliper specialist, I handle disassembly and reassembly, but I don't know any other powdercoaters on any of my powdercoat forums who do that, or any disassembly/reassembly. I did offer a local customer to borrow my tahoe and take his wheels to get dismounted when he dropped the car off though, but taking 2-3 hours out of the schedule is just way too counter productive.
