Altered Atmosphere
Edit: I had the 2.5" True Dual Exhaust installed yesterday. Here's a video of interior sounds and exterior. I didn't get as much exterior as I had hopped becuase it frikken started raining again! What happened to summer in the Mid-A? ;-)
This car is stock except for this exhaust. I'm still running the stock cats as well. The interior almost sounds louder to me here than it does for real, but anyway here it is: |
there's a guy on myg37 that got a custom TT job by them and he had no problems.
this was like last year sometime. I'll get some pics |
|
Thanks for the reply nogoodname. ;-)
I like this one the best: Quote:

^^ that add-on on the hood adds quite a bit of torque and hp...lol

Tried to get ahold of them weeks back to purchase test pipe and install them. Took close to a week to get back to me so I went looking else where.
Not saying it's a bad shop,it just took to long to get back to me. |

Makes me want to look for other options. Aren't they having some event tomorrow? They haven't even promoted that here very well... |
I think there are, but not going due to a Company pinic.
Your right they must be very busy , or they don't care. The more you post the more, info about your shop will get out. I don't know much about them, but I just traded in two wheels for four. So I am feeling my way around as to who are the better shops in the area. |
Alteredatmosphere - Nissan 370Z Forum
not much action going on there, most probably busy with other projects right now |

Jon @ Altered responded back to my requests in about a day....two days at the most. I'll be going back this Friday (16 June) and having them install Berk HFC's, Stillen Intake & Exhaust. I'll let ya know how it goes, tooohip. |
How did I miss this thread??? Toohip, Shift, everyone, I apologize for the lack of communication and inactivity here on the this forum. You're right, we have been QUITE busy with Nissan GT-R work, and we didn't have a shop 370Z until a few months back, and we're still just beginning production work for this car.
We had been getting so many inquires from GT-R customers, and we were being pressured to produce parts for that car, we weren't able to devote enough time and attention to develop product and service the 370Z platform. We're through with most of the GT-R development, so we've turned all of our attention and resources to the 370Z. Look for High Flow Cats, Test Pipes, Y-Pipe, Exhaust and ECU tuning to come out around Mid to Late Summer. As far as inquires regarding service, please, send me a PM with any questions or concerns you may have, and I will do my best to respond to them in a timely fashion! 2theextreme-We will see you Friday! Looking forward to hearing that beast roar! Edit: All-We're trying hard to stay on top of everything, but we have a pretty small staff here, so don't feel like we're ignoring you if we don't respond to questions right away. Remember, you guys can call us at anytime too, I am more than happy to talk to potential customers on the phone. And if you have time, stop by the shop and check us out, you'll be glad you did! -Jon |
I'll be there this Friday getting the True Duel Exhaust on my Z... Thanks for the reply Jon. I talked with Clint this past Friday and set up my appointment.
|
Just got back from AAM with their true dual exhaust installed. Sounds GREAT! Thanks Clint and the rest of the team! I had to light the tires up on the way home just because it sounded so good. :tiphat:

Here ya go... I edited my original post with this as well...
The interior almost sounds louder to me here than it does for real, but anyway here it is (there's a lot of interior. The exterior stuff starts at 3:15): |
Dude you need to post this clip in the exhaust forum. Thats sounds friggen sick. Now I want one :)
I wish you wound have done a before and after dyno hah :) |

Forgot to mention, they will do round or oval tips too.
|
Sounds great. Thanks for getting a video up so quick. Do you have the 6sp manual? If so, it seems like you rev through the RPM's quicker than stock for sure.

hey tooohip, I must have just missed you on Friday. I knew there was going to be another 370 coming in. I was just hanging out in the waiting room for my upgrades. Maybe you just dropped yours off and had a ride waiting? I was there from 8 AM until about 2 PM. It was so worth it! I love all the upgrades I've done so far and now I've read a thread that someone installed the Performance Lightweight Pulley and I think I have to get that installed now, too! So many install items and so little money....hahaha!
Altered was a great experience. I highly recommend those in the VA/DC/MD/PA area to check them out. Yes, like Jon stated they might be a small group but they do wonderful work! |

I just posted this in the Mid-Atlantic section:
http://www.the370z.com/mid-atlantic-...html#post95506 The Import Face-Off in Crofton......Altered had copies of the flier. Did you pick one up? Do you think you'll be going? If so, we should try to meet up and park our Z's next to each other! |

Do you mind me asking what the cost is on something like that? I'm not really worried about hp at the moment, just looking for sound.
I have never been into modifying cars before, but I've done a ton of mods on harleys. If you change out the exaust on a bike you also have to change out the air intake and reprogram the ECU. If you don't than you can run the risk of damaging the engine. Is this the same case with the Z? I plan on attending the deal in Crofton as well. |
$1400 bucks including the install. I don't think there was an ECU reprograming though. Jon can you answer that question? As far as I know, it's not needed with an exhaust, but there's better folks here that can answer that. ;-)
|
That's not a bad price. The ECU in the Z may be able to automatically compensate for changes in the air/fuel mix, I guess I would be more worried about not changing the intake. You're letting more air out of the engine with the exhaust, but you aren't letting any more in with the stock intake. I'm not concerned about gaining hp, but I wouldn't want to lose any. It does sound great though.
|
Yeah, I think you are right Fly. Of course, I will be doing intake, headers and HFC one of these days...well maybe... ;-)
|
Fly's correct to an extent; changing intake/exhaust components can cause the factory ECU's to make minor changes to it's Air/Fuel Maps, but not nearly enough to properly keep the car's Ignition, Timing and Fuel functions smooth and in balance. In some cases, the stock vehicle runs too lean/too rich throughout the RPM range. Keep in mind this happens when you do heavy modifications to the vehicles intake/exhaust components. When I say that, I mean changing the air intakes, headers, running test pipes, and full exhaust. Usually doing all of these bolt-ons can cause your car to experience some of the issues mentioned above.
However, if you just get an aftermarket exhaust for your Z, usually you'll be fine with just exhaust, or an intake kit. Anything in addition to these performance modifications and we recommend getting the car flashed. We're still working on a Reflash for the 370Z, and we'll keep you guys updated. Hope this helps! -Jon |
I'm curious, is there any kind of ECU piggyback system, like the Power Commander for bikes, that is made for cars?
