Whachoo talkin bout homie? The ice has been a blast today. Lol. I'm a rally fan though so any loss of traction is flat out fun. I really should get the new STI. But I hear the '17 STI will be pretty sweet. Time will tell.

So the hobby shop have been closed for most of the week... and it is going to be packed out on Saturday/Sunday...

I went to Sears and bought Craftsman's 1/2" cordless impact wrench (300lbs/tq), 2 pairs of 2 1/2 ton jack stands, deep sockets, wrenches (sizes I need for the install), universal swivel, and a creeper...

I soaked the bolts on the stock exhaust with liquid wrench for the past two nights... I have not drove my car since the snow. I'm planning on doing the install this Saturday with a buddy.

I almost gave in and went to a shop that quoted me $125-175... Btw, the dealership wanted $350 which is insane since they quoted me $800 for the Stillen's supercharger turn key kit installation. however, if I can't get the stock exhaust off with my tools I might have return all of the tools I just bought and take it to a shop... or get up super early and wait at the hobby shop... and then my awesome, loving wife will say... I told you so... lol...

I tried to hit the hobby shop last Saturday. Got there at 7:45. Parking lot was packed already. I turned right the hell around and left. Kinda ********. What really irritates me is the fact that there are so many cars sitting in the stalls long term that haven't moved.

Anyway... The exhaust swap is cake. The bitch is getting clearance under the car. I helped darketch with his. Done in an hour flat with no real issues. Took a minute to align it properly but it turned out sweet.

Oh. And $800 for a sc install? Honestly, that sounds really low. Like, so low I'd call it shady. I'd be careful if I were you. An exhaust install can easily hit $300-400. That's what happens when you pay someone else. Unreasonable? Kinda. Realistic? Absolutely.

I don't want to get the sand and salt on the Z and the traction levels are just too low for it to be a lot of fun. When I had my Mazdaspeed6 it was a lot of fun doing the four wheel powerslide.

Salt is a bitch but it's a part of life for a daily driver.

With my son away at school I have the luxury of a winter car and a vehicle for delivering large boxes with cat backs in them.

bkngo Use 6 point sockets on the exhaust nuts and you should be able to get them off without trouble. All I had at the time were 12 point sockets and I mangled up 2 of them and had to Dremel cut the nuts with a C cut to get them off.

So I called around and most shops could not get me in until next week. I ended up going to National Car Care on Diamond Springs. Zack the tech put on about four exhausts on Zs in the area. He said FI fitment was on point. The last Z he installed a Greddy had fitment trouble. Long story short he installed it in about 1 1/2 for $200 and I love it. It compliments the Stillen CAI.

Which ones? I have a Craftsman 300ftlb 1/2inch impact wrench. They need to be broken in. When I first got it, it wouldn't take off 90ftlb lug nuts. I almost took it back. I had a spare battery from another Craftsman product that was 100% charged and tried it. Even though I had fully charged the battery that came with it the old/used battery made all the difference. The impact wench would finally take the lug nuts off but just barely. After swapping wheels a few time my impact wrench now takes off lug nuts like it is nothing. One thing I noticed is the torque it applies ramps up. It doesn't apply 300ftlbs on the first squeeze of the button but after a few seconds it ramps up the torque. I'm guessing that is a safety feature. Also after cycling the battery that came with a few times, the battery now works 100%. I was annoying that it didn’t work right out of the box but now that is does I’m happy with it.

Good to know. I almost bought one but read some bad reviews that made me very hesitant.

Same one... because they have the 1/2" 250ft tq and 300ft tq... also an electric 1/2" 350ft tq... it was fully charged... it took off the lugs just fine... however those bolts were too much... I might go back and get the 250ft 1/2" cordless impact drill, creeper, and a pair of jack stands for the sway bar install...

My CBE was installed at my friend's shop. Even with Snap-On electric and air powered impact wrenches we still had to cut 2 bolts. My Z wasn't even 1 year old and that's going by the manufacturing date not the date I got it.

Anyone here with a 40th annivasary 370z with Stillen's plates that live in Culpepper Landing on this forum? There are three Zs in my neighborhood.
