Thats a typo, sorry I was talking about the differential. Where'd you get your oil?

Cristobal09 02-19-2012 01:39 PM

Just got it from my mechanic.

Yeah, I was just hoping maybe someone new of a place to get Redline for a good price. The good thing is the differential only takes 2 quarts, instead of 3. I found it on ebay, 3 quarts for $48 shipping included.

I've definitely been meaning to change my tranny oil. Shifts are way too notchy for a new vehicle and it's much worse in the cold. Always remember to make sure you can loosen the fill plug before you drain the tranny and realize you are f*cked. The diff is something I'll also look into, great suggestion!

UPDATE:

I changed my differential fluid this morning at 3500 miles, everything was easy until I had to fill it up. The filler plug is not in the best location, and gravity is definitely not on your side, but a trip to Advance Auto Parts and a $10 filler pump worked very nicely.

I used Mobil 1 75W-90.
Good stuff!

vtec to vvel 05-02-2015 02:33 PM

just did mine @ 59k, and the oil was surprisingly a dark honey color, rather than the black sludge-ish description everyone else had. used valvoline synthetic blend 80w-90. never used this brand before, but only did because all the other weights were 75w-90 or something else, and the 09 manual calls for 80w-90.

Glad I swapped out my diff (entirely).
