5th Gear Grinding = New Transmission
Just picked up my used 370Z and noticed grinding going into 5th gear. (Wasn't so surprised necessarily, since my 350 had a similar issue for quite a while with no real consequences.) Turns out Koons is going to give me a new transmission next week.
So...I'm curious if there's a way to take advantage of this by adding some mods...e.g, short shifter or something. Any ideas? |
You could go to an aftermarket CSC if so inclined, and it would also be an ideal opportunity to do the clutch as it would cut the labor in half. See if they are willing to deal with aftermarket parts, otherwise just take the new factory parts and move on.

Yeah...thought about aftermarket clutch too. Hhmm...
|
damn, thats sooo unfortunate..
|
But it's a new transmission at least...or are you being sarcastic? ;) (certainly not expected development, but could be worse, right?)
|
Noooo no sarcasm here, its just bullsh*t, you'd think they woulda checked that when they received the car..i mean, like wtf?!!
|
Yeah...indeed. Thankfully it's under warranty and all.
|
thank goodness man, good luck bro

Id be nervous as hell if the tranny is already gone. Most likely the guy before you who had it drove it like an a$$hole and ragged the crap out of it. Id check all the fluids in it imo.

But back to my question, any mods I should try to weave into this experience? |
