Clear Bra in and around DC area... positive review
hey guys, I read the rules in this section and I am thinking that this is ok to say. I know that everyone wants to yell from the roof when we get bad service, so I wanted to do the same about a very positive service experience.
I just had "clear bra" installed this past weekend on my front fender, hood, roof (carbon fiber wrap) and rear impact areas and I couldn't be more pleased with the workmanship. Job was beautiful and it seems to have been done with one sheet as there are not multiple seams all over the place. I've learned this is a very competitive field so don't have "your guy" come and take over the thread spitting hate, but you should check out Custom Clear Tech. The owner, Shy,is mobile, so he comes to you. His contact info is on the website. I know he is coming back up to columbia again soon so hit me up if interested. I live in Columbia and he came up from the Waldorf area I think... I would recommend getting a few people to do it if interested as you can get a hook-up that way. Last week Shy did my car and two other cars in one day (left at 1am). Anyway, send me a message if you have questions but it is well worth the money. Given the shape of our cars we are just waiting to have a rock hit every part of our car. |

There is a guy in Hampton Roads that do the Clear Bra and he will also come out to your location or you can make an appointment with him down in Va Beach. Forgot the shop name but is anyone is interested PM me.
Excellent customer service and workmanship. Also is warranty not to "yellowish" and warranty for 5 yrs.

not sure if I should give his price???
but to answer your other question, yes, it is worth it. I waited too long and did it at 8k miles and because I noticed a few chips. Basically the day you put it on your car stops aging. 5 year warranty on it and guarantee not to yellow
as it's a 3M product. CustomClearTech will have number. The owner is Shy. hit him up! |

Yes, I would say is a little bit expensive but it is worth it.
I'm happy with it and at least I don't have to use no more 3M tape when I go to ZdayZ. I believe Jon has clear bra too...

Nice.. Yeah, I'd agree it expensive, I bet you the majority of the cost is the labor itself, I bet you the actual material itself is pretty cheap.

mine was a 3M product and i had the roof wrapped in a carbon fiber vinyl. Looks good and work is nice and tight. No more road chips. Honestly wish I would have done it sooner.

Does anyone know the method of adhesion that is used? E.g., is the underside of the clear material coated with some type of glue? Or perhaps is it some type of "cling" material that stays in place just because all of the air between the paint and the clear material has been removed?
Thanks. Larry |

mechanically inclined is one thing, patient and precise is another. there is no glue, it is like working with kitchen plastic wrap that sticks to everything including itself.
Need a very clean car that is prepped with an astrignet or something to remove as much of the impurities as possible. Heat gun, patience and water spray bottle and go to work. But imagine covering most of your car with a single sheet of plastic with the contour, different materials and razor sharp cuts needed all working against you. Better to hire a pro and let it get done with a warranty. I know that Shy will let you watch him work because he feels that a lot of people think that they can do what he does, but with 13 years doing it, it's not going to look as good. Just my humble opinion. |
