The first time I ever did a sound deadening project I listened to the BS and did 100% coverage with Dynamat. What a waste.

Now I know all of the elements required for a proper deadening job.

This is in a 2005 Civic.

CLD Tiles:

Building up the layer of Closed Cell Foam:

Adding the Mass Loaded Vinyl (the actual sound barrier):

Trunk floor completed, all gaps filled, CCF under all of the MLV:

This is improper coverage:

Unfortunately a lot of people do this but it is not effective as a sound barrier.
