You have to purchase separate track day insurance if you want to be covered. There are a few companies that sell HPDE insurance. Usually it's around $250 for a weekend event. There is a hefty deductible but it's better than paying completely out of pocket if you total your car.

Yeah that's the only thing I'm worried about, though there are companies that will allow you to buy single event coverage. It just adds another $100-150 to the cost of a track event, but worth it just to be safe IMO. I might still take my chances though. From what I hear, there are very few incidents in the beginner classes. I'd rather take it slow and steady than try to be overconfident and go too fast. If you just listen to everything the instructor says, you should be alright.

Hey, do you guys think I can grab a 370z with sports package for $20k cash around here? There is a sweet black one for 24.5k but that's a dealer... I don't see that working out. I think I have to buy from a private seller or increase my budget...

$20k is a stretch, but you can probably do better than 24.5k on a 09-10 base + sport.

Yeah the cheapest ones I see listed are like $23-24k. Probably need to increase your budget a bit.

But I thought your s2k was faster? Might as well just rent a VW Beetle since that's all you should need to beat me, right?

If you do actually want to come to the HPDE with me, we won't be able to exactly race. Just have to look at who puts up the best lap times.
