E85 to stop any chance of predet. That and it makes more power with less. And no I meanttop mounted turbo. I like it for show as well. I will be running a custom vented hood to stop heatsoak as much as possible. Trust me a front or rear mount would be soooooo much easier and not a welding nightmare. But you know...becauseracecar/showcar

Also I will be getting my engine rebuilt in a year once im bored with my setup and will be going for bigger power with twin borgwarner EFR 6258s and E85 will allow for much more boost and power. EFRs are probably some of the best turbos for the money on the market right now. they have built in wastegates, bovs, and boost solenoids and their power ratios are different. most turbos run 8-10whp per psi EFRs run 12whp per psi.

Errrrr...

Agreed on the pre-det, it does run cooler, for sure. However, it takes about 30% MORE fuel to make the same power. Also, far more difficult to acquire reliably. E85 is usually reserved for cars running 600+ WHP heh.

Worse, your problem wont be pre-det I don't think (barring a shitty tune) - it's going to be the VVEL tuning issues preventing you from making power. Furthermore, what are you doing to beef up the driveline to handle all of this? Or is it really not going to be raced? And what is your final power goal before/after your rebuild? If you arent going north of 500 (and I think that heat soak issue with the top-mount may truly cause you problems), I don't see the need for E85 personally, but that is me.

If you're mainly going for show-car, this all makes a little more sense lol.

Hey, it's his build, he can do what he wants - I'm just trying to figure out if he's making a race car or a show car.

Like I said, show car, this all makes sense.

In response to the comment expressing worriment: Guys dont worry about his questions.lol I like stuff that makes me question my own builds. Its the best ways of improving upon what you know. I dont know everything so I welcome others ideas There are also 15 E85 stations within a 30 mile radius of me.

I know that fuel consumption will be 20-30% depending on tune but its also $.75-1 cheaper per gallon than premium here in my area. Im not too worried about VVEL as it has just been cracked and hopefully in a year or more support for it will be better. There are a handful of 600+whp Z's and G's now so they found a way to be able to do it. Honestly I havent gotten to far with anything regarding 500-550+whp as thats so far off for me so some of this I cant even answer haha. Final goal is 700whp but thats a while away. If im doing that im doing a whole new tranny and everything with sequential gearbox which most of that will come from qualife. But if im going 550+ I wont be going top mount. Im doing E85 just because I can.lol There is barely any diversity out there with this platform and I absolutely dislike that fact so im trying to be unique and just get some builds out there. In terms of heat the guys with the S&R top mounts are doing just fine btw. And I dont believe any have vented hoods....

Anyways this wil be mostly a show car and will be tracked once in a while but will only be tracked in spurts until enough testing is done to make sure everything is stable and reliable...within reason lol it is tracking after all. To accomdate that I will be doing new csc, clutch, flywheel, bigger brakes, more cooling, a bunch of other mods.

I think thats everything Im at work and there was a lot to respond to if anything doesnt make sense or was skipped...you have my apologies
