So I can either do...

2 x 225/50/18
2 x 245/45/18
Total: $931.91

OR

2 x 245/45/18
2 x 265/40/18
Total: $1108

Think the wider patch would be worth it?

I'd go for it. 225 is way too small up front for the Z.

I am officially jealous.

Please post link of where you bought the lip so I can imitate you.

I know, I don't think Damien will be happy with just 20 pics. He might still hit me with the :worthless: :rofl2:

Just PM EvoR on the forum. That's who I ordered it through. Got the lip for $235 shipped and then cost $100 more for paint and install

Cristobal09 02-22-2012 09:36 AM

I messaged him on his site and never heard back from him.

You going to black out your fangs still?

Actually the 225 is more than enough. Most guys who tracked ran those and did phenomenally (on the m3 forums, with a heavier car than the z) compared to the 245/19 in the front. Yes this was NOT a Z, but the e46 m3 is very comparable to the Z in many ways.

The Z has gobs of understeer and benefits greatly from more tire up front. Just ask Red what it's like to try to hustle the car with 225s up front. You're left wanting for more front grip.

I'm going to have 275s up front. :yum:

Masa 02-22-2012 09:40 AM

I could always get a set of rear OEM 18" wheels and go for a square setup - 265's all around!

No it's not enough tire.

You forget that the z is much more front heavy and prone to pushhhhh

Ahh...

Well I cant comment cause I dont have 225's up front. Unless you go on the Dragon or track it or drive hard, 225's should be fine. But then....what would be the point of owning this car if you dont do any of that stuff!

As much as I'd love a set of Michelin PSS tires, kind of overkill for what I drive :icon17:

I don't think so. And if you go with a square setup they have a 30k mile tread wear warranty.

m4a1mustang 02-22-2012 10:08 AM

Tire rack called me to make sure I knew 275/35 was shorter than 255/40 (OEM). Yes, I know this. They tried to recommend 275/40 which is 27.7" tall (stock is 27", 275/35 is 26.6"). Sorry but I don't want truck tires. :bowrofl:

Thats funny, they did that with me when I bought 275/30-19 for my m3, (stock is 255/35/19) and the guy threw this big stink about putting on wrong tires. Literally went on about how unsafe they would be since they werent made for my car, felt like when I was 16 and my dad was trying to give me advice about women, just STFU!!

Yeah it's a CYA policy, though. They have to have that conversation so that you can't come back and sue them if the tire blows out or something.

Just PM him on this forum. That's what I did and he replied the next day.

My fangs are already blacked out

b1adesofcha0s 02-22-2012 10:55 AM

I got the Tire Rack call when I bought my front tires, but not for the tears. The guy was just like "you know these are different from factory spec, right?". I said yeah and that was about it.

Damn 30K? That's pretty stout for a serious max-perf summer time :yum:

Very nearly bought new rims. Good discounted price on brand new wheels. Took a closer look on a Z with those rims, though, and went "no thx"

well dont buy new rims if youre going to get rid of your car. KEEP THE CAR

If I bought the rims, I could re-sell the rims. Small loss, but it is what it is.

I've already ordered a stock shift knob, meaning I have all the stock components to my car for when I sell. Except I'll have to swap out interiors with someone, and I've already got a few people interested.

Cristobal09 02-22-2012 11:09 AM

Hell that interior alone is worth it to keep the car. That is just an excellent overall job.

Hey guys, I'm taking my car in for maintenance this Saturday, what type of oil should I ask for?

I put redline 5w30 in my car.

If you're taking it to nissan stealership, just get the ester.

or redline if you dont want to take it to the dealership. Or even Mobil 1 5w-30 will work. Just dont have the a$$hats put in conventional like they did in my car for the "free" oil change.

Oh and make sure they CHANGE THE OIL FILTER. Cowles nissan in Hoodbridge told me that they only change the filter in the 370 after every other oil change. Ive never heard of that before.

I always used Redline in my Z. I use Pennzoil Platinum now in the 5.0h. That is good stuff.

:iagree: The Pennzoil Platinum is good stuff and usually around $23 for a 5 quart jug at Wal-Mart.

What time? If it's during my lunch break I could manage it.

I should change out my differential fluid as well, I'll probably wait until I need to change out the engine oil as well in 1500 miles.
