Just as a reference my first track event was a Hyperdrive at Summit Point. I remember when we rolled out for the first lap I was at the back of the entire group as I was almost late to the grid! When we got underway on the straight headed toward turn one which was a hard right (almost a hairpin) I remember I didn't really go too fast and didn't brake all that hard, so the instructor asked if I was really braking hard. I told him no, He told me the next time we came down the straight to haul a$$ and not let off the gas until he told me to, and then when he told me to he said I should step on the brake HARD until he told me to release and turn in. Needless to say this was my first experience with how well a good set of brakes work because I must've been doing a buck twenty down the straight and it kept getting closer and closer to the turn and then at almost the last second he said, "BRAKE" and I stepped hard onto the brakes. They did exactly what they were supposed to do which was bring the Z down slow enough to the point I could look for the turn in point and try to shoot for the apex. I missed the apex the first time. LOL For that Hyperdrive I was equipped with a 19 row oil cooler, the sport Akebono brakes, upgraded with Hawk HPS+ pads and MOTUL RBF-600 brake fluid. I never had any problems for the entire 25 minutes the Hyperdrive lasted. Temps that day were in the 80s.
Conversely, Daisuke on this forum was with me at Little Talladegha in Alabama for the track session at Z Nationals with his stock Akebono brakes pads and he fried the pads after the first 25 minute session and had to call it. I managed to not suffer any problems for two 25 min sessions with brakes but on the third session I did managed to boil my clutch fluid, which I fixed by replacing also with the MOTUL RBF-600 fluid afterward. Temps that day were 104F on the track.

No he wouldn't like me when I'm angry. I'll bump his bumpa when I'm getting angry Chris, you must make it to one of those megacruise, tons of fun! We did it last year early fall I believe and it was absolutely delightful! Crew of more than a dozen Zs rolling in harmony through scenic areas with interesting things happening... you get the idea

And he'll be fine on the track with his base brake calipers. Jesus, you guys are fear mongerers lol. He needs good pads, some fluid, and some decent rubber. Hell his brakes are more brakes than a lot of other cars already have on the track and they do fine...

Coming from the most over-modded car owner that hasnt done anything yet because he keeps handicapping himself 8P
"Well, I'd get on the track, BUT....." *rolls excuse dice.....* "Survey SAYS...........the humidity is a little high today, and my exhaust has a funny smell, which means I'm running rich/lean. Oh, wait, I was supposed to pick one or the other, there..."

Would YOU drive on base calipers at your pace? IDK... I wouldn't want to do it. But then again my work is all about risk management so that's how I think.
