I am looking optimally for not-terribly-invasive engine mod.s. I.e. air intakes & software. Would like to keep all relatively reversable for warranty reasons. What's best / hot out there for '10 370? I know this is an oversimplified and basic question so thanks for help. If someone asked me this about a Porsche or Mercedes I'd be thinking "boy what a newbie, where should I begin?".... so again thanks and if need any clarifying questions asked or narrowing down please let me know. |

I'd go to a car meet up, we have them often, in Fairfax and in Columbia MD, you could see what a lot of the guys around here have done. Its a pretty cool experience.

Stillen Intakes.
High Flow Cats. Cat Back exhaust. UpRev retune... Or save up a bit and put in a supercharger. But then again I did not care about the power train portion of my warranty...

I have a freind who has a 300zx turbo that he bought with some Stillen upgrades on it, actually I think the Stillen shop itself did turbo upgrades on it. It is pretty fast car.... not really controllable.... but fast if you can keep it going straight! LOL Any particular exhaust / cats that you recommend? I'm guessing cats will likely be more than I'm looking to spend on this car rt. now. I presume this UpRev (which I haven't looked at - at all yet) will take into acct. any intake and exhaust mod.s? Not really trying to throw a blower on it at this point but I'm sure that adds for some excitement. When ur doing things like supercharges on these cars how robust are the heads/headgaskets and transmissions? Thanks again. |

Exhaust is highly preferential. I found the F.I. exhausts to have drone and that is a deal killer for me. I am a fan of the Ark exhaust (even though I am running a take off Nismo) no drone and deep. EastWest has one I think if you want to hear it locally. UpRev is the company that makes the tuning software. You get a copy when you go get a dyno tune from the local tuners around here. Supercharger, Motor and drive train seem to mix very well, Many users on the forum with the GTM and nothing blown so far as I have heard. Clutch is good to about 500whp. Transmissions seem to be holding up well unless it is an auto and then there are fixes for the auto out there.

Intakes: Stillen CAI or k&n drop in filters and post maf tubes
Exhaust: Fast Intentions Headers: Fast Intentions or PPE (only long tube headers are worth it, stay away from shorties, the stock tubular exhaust manifolds are actually pretty good) Tune: Uprev (only choice really since COBB dropped the Z platform like a bad habit, but Uprev is really good) I'm personally not comfortable with underdrive/lightweight pullies but some folks run them here, good for freeing up 2-5whp. Lightweight flywheel will also do /\ x1000 about going to a local meet and seeing folks cars in person and what they've done, will give you a much better idea of where you want to go. |

the stillen cai is overpriced for what you get IMO, unless you get up to 6800 rpm's constantly and want good sound. Personally, I would just get the K&N drop in filters with mishimoto post maf hoses and save 300 bucks. I have the mishimoto post maf tubes with K&N's and noticed a DECENT amount of midrange, but thats most likely butt dyno. look for jomer on the forums for best price. Look for FBnissan on the forums here to get his contact info.

But use the 300 bucks you saved by getting the hoses and K&N filters and apply it towards stillen sways or swift springs.

Heres what I can comment on for what I have so far
Gemini catback exhaust - biggest power gainer by a good number, plus it adds a nice sound. Its the quietest exhaust from what ive heard, and when I go to the meets, it is my favorite sound. Swift springs - This was a great suspension mod, handling improved a good deal but lowered the car where I scrape almost everywhere. Railroad tracks I have to go 5 mph over, but the lower plastic things take a brunt of the force. Ichiba rear camber arms - Just get these with the springs, the rear camber will get knocked outta whhack, and unless you want some SERIOUS camber changes, go with the ichiba. It costs about 60 bucks cheaper and does the same thing, but can only adjust 2 degrees both ways, instead of SPC's 3 degrees. Ichiba is perfect. Stillen front and rear sway bars - By far the most noticeable suspenison mod. It took my shop an hour to do (I dont do any work myself, I figure i went to school and got a good job to make enough money to have somebody do it for me ![]() Mishimoto post maf hose/K&N filters - I was not expecting big gains from this. Mid range is a definitely a little peppier and the sound is a little better. When you rev it to about 5000 you hear the noise. But my exhaust overrides it a bit. Now youll hear people using Berk/invidia/stillen test pipes/HFC's, but personally I wouldnt mess with the cats. Ive spoken to numerous people and they all claim it added very little power but mainly noise to the exhaust. And to me, IMO, isnt worth cost. Its REALLY noisy. You already know my thoughts on stillen intakes. Headers, again, I dont see many people using because its very low horsepower adder. Plus its a PITA to install and it quite pricey. Supercharger - Now this would obviously be the best way for power. Kirkster is the only one I know of thhat has one of these. But hes also a master mechanic and if something breaks, he can fix it. I bought all of my parts from Jomer. Hes on the forums here and will always get you the best prices. FBnissan is his name on the forums here so dont shop online before consulting forum vendors for prices.
