I'll eventually have all those mods, so I'll be watching for an answer to your question as well.

b1adesofcha0s 01-03-2012 11:44 AM

I'm pretty sure Hills Garage can do it and I think it's around $500-600.

tonybui 01-03-2012 02:13 PM

Do u guys think I should get it tune aince those are the only bolts on I have?? Is it worth it?

Depends if you want to add anymore power mods. If you think you are done, go ahead and get a tune, if you think you may swap out your drop in filters for a full CAI setup like the G3's then I would wait a bit and get it all done at once.

Thanks for posting this. eRep given!

Glokwork 01-04-2012 05:14 AM

legally $500 is the cheapest you can get it done anywhere. uprev allows the tuners to sell the osiris license for no less than $500. got mine done at cin motorsports in charlotte,nc. spent hours on the dyno and with the tune walked out $500.

Let us know if you find something cheaper. That's a lot more than I was expecting it to be.

Looking on UpRev's website, the only other local tuner would be JE Import Performance:

JE IMPORT PERFORMANCE
8303 D Pulaski Highway
Baltimore, MD 2123
JE Import Performance :: JE Import Performance
(410) 686-5111

If that doesn't work out there's one in Wilmington, DE and after that you'd have to go as far as PA. Of course you could also get an e-tune from UpRev for a lot cheaper. For that, I think they send you the software and then use data collected from your care to make a tune for you and they send you the tune. IIRC it comes with the purchase of the software (~$500) and you get 3 free updates.

I have found JE Import Performance to be reasonable and has good customer service. They have a mustang dyno and it seems to read high from what I have seen on the forum here, but they do know how to tune the 370...

I'd be most interested in price. I'd rather get the eTune from UpRev for $500 than spend $700 at Hills Garage.

4r3s 01-10-2012 11:53 AM

Personally I wouldn't take a tune lightly and just look for the place you can get it the cheapest. I would be looking for the place that has the best reputation and most experience. There are a lot variables to consider when doing a tune and there is potential to have your car seriously screwed up if done incorrectly. Its a $30k car, $700 is a drop in the bucket comparitively speaking.

There is a saying, "You either pay now or you pay later, but sooner or later you're gonna pay".

So who else has gotten an UpRev tune in MD/NoVA? If you have, where did you get it from and how much was it?

No, but it's on my list of eventual things to get. I was planning on just getting it from Hill's Garage, but their price just seems too high to me.

yeah, I heard that..

tonybui 01-13-2012 11:51 PM

It's weird how many places offer this tune for $500 but Hill's garage decide to charge $670.
Do you guys wanna do like a group so they could lower the damn price? I mean you guys are looking to get your cars tune too correct?

Masa 01-14-2012 01:15 AM

I would be in for a group buy if they did lower the price.

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2012 01:41 AM

I won't be able to do it for quite a while.

Haha I'm done with power mods, decided against HFC's and just sticking to intake + exhaust + tune. Plan is to save up for another toy that has an LS7 and make the Z the 'beater' car. ;)

VaGntlmn 01-14-2012 07:09 AM

I'll throw in my 2 cents since I did get my Z uprev'd at Hills.
Expensive - yes. Worth it - YES.
You can take a look my list of mods in my sig line below; they're all bolt ons as well.
Everybody suggested I get tuned since I swapped out the intakes and replaced the entire exhaust system.
Apparently this was enough to make a difference.

What will Hills do?
Put your Z on a dyno, run it up to 4th gear and 7,500 rpms, take readings, bring it back down to idle, make some adjustments, repeat until satisfied.
Here are some pics from my tune.

What are they doing?
Simplest terms - flashing the brain.
Apparently the Z has about 15 different "driving modes". "It" determines what mode it wants to use based upon how you drive.
What does the tune do? Gets rid of about 12 of them, and basically locks your Z in "performance" mode. So regardless of how you are driving, she's ready to respond.
Frank got about 20 extra horses for me. I love it!!! :driving:

hth

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2012 08:34 AM

I understand the benefits of the tune. My only problem was that you can get a relatively similar quality tune for a lot less at places other than Hills Garage.

Dude, a Z can NEVER EVER be a 'beater' car...:shakes head:
