legally $500 is the cheapest you can get it done anywhere. uprev allows the tuners to sell the osiris license for no less than $500. got mine done at cin motorsports in charlotte,nc. spent hours on the dyno and with the tune walked out $500.

$670 is CRAZY... |
I was not looking to travel all the way to PA.
But I will definitely update you guys if I can find a place with a good deal!! |

Looking on UpRev's website, the only other local tuner would be JE Import Performance:
JE IMPORT PERFORMANCE 8303 D Pulaski Highway Baltimore, MD 2123 JE Import Performance :: JE Import Performance (410) 686-5111 If that doesn't work out there's one in Wilmington, DE and after that you'd have to go as far as PA. Of course you could also get an e-tune from UpRev for a lot cheaper. For that, I think they send you the software and then use data collected from your care to make a tune for you and they send you the tune. IIRC it comes with the purchase of the software (~$500) and you get 3 free updates. |

Personally I wouldn't take a tune lightly and just look for the place you can get it the cheapest. I would be looking for the place that has the best reputation and most experience. There are a lot variables to consider when doing a tune and there is potential to have your car seriously screwed up if done incorrectly. Its a $30k car, $700 is a drop in the bucket comparitively speaking.

So who else has gotten an UpRev tune in MD/NoVA? If you have, where did you get it from and how much was it?

It's weird how many places offer this tune for $500 but Hill's garage decide to charge $670.
Do you guys wanna do like a group so they could lower the damn price? I mean you guys are looking to get your cars tune too correct? |
I would be in for a group buy if they did lower the price.
|
I won't be able to do it for quite a while.

I'll throw in my 2 cents since I did get my Z uprev'd at Hills.
Expensive - yes. Worth it - YES. You can take a look my list of mods in my sig line below; they're all bolt ons as well. Everybody suggested I get tuned since I swapped out the intakes and replaced the entire exhaust system. Apparently this was enough to make a difference. What will Hills do? Put your Z on a dyno, run it up to 4th gear and 7,500 rpms, take readings, bring it back down to idle, make some adjustments, repeat until satisfied. Here are some pics from my tune. What are they doing? Simplest terms - flashing the brain. Apparently the Z has about 15 different "driving modes". "It" determines what mode it wants to use based upon how you drive. What does the tune do? Gets rid of about 12 of them, and basically locks your Z in "performance" mode. So regardless of how you are driving, she's ready to respond. Frank got about 20 extra horses for me. I love it!!! :driving: hth |
I understand the benefits of the tune. My only problem was that you can get a relatively similar quality tune for a lot less at places other than Hills Garage.
