HFC install ... what a b!tch, tips needed

I give up ... it's a pain in the ***, any recommended shop? I spent $50 to a friend for labor and $30 on extension tool plus the cost of HFC and can't get those things off . How much more would I look to spend if I take it to a shop??? the cheaper the better of course lol

I think Hill's Garage charged like $150 and they've done a couple of them on the 370Z's. I was there hanging out with someone else who got them installed (rarwz) and I think that's how much it was.

Yo Kirk, would you be able to help me out with an HFC install? I might get a set for my bday in February.

tonybui 12-19-2011 07:55 PM

Thanks guys !!
Damn, another $150 .... this thing is adding up lol

tjlazer 12-19-2011 08:38 PM

you can save the $150+ but just cutting the damn cat! Thats what I did. Money is tight. ;)

There is a sticky on this forum detailing the entire process, with pics, and recs for which tools to use. Mike Bonanni is the author of the thread.

BEST advice I can give you is to soak the demon bolts with penetrating oil the night before you try to get 'em off.

kellyefields 12-19-2011 08:48 PM

If you want to give it one more chance get some PB Blaster and some straws. Make yourself a make shift tube using the straws that will reach down to the bolts and spray the bolts down before you drive for about a week straight. You will want to get at least 4 or 5 good drives to really heat it up and once you get home after driving while it is still hot spray it again. This should allow the PB blaster to really soak into the metal and make it easier to break free. I used a whole can on each side to make life much easier.

edit just realized this is my 600 post WOOT
