well sigh. Im a steelers fan. Horrible performance on our part. great performance on Ravens part.
truthfully though, you guys ought to beat us once in a while :p And im not saying this to knock Baltimore, its the same thing ive been saying about Atlanta (i live in atlanta) Baltimore had a good performance. I cannot honestly say they had a great performance. with 7 turnsover A great performance would have been a bigger blowout. Baltimore, if they want to win the superbowl needs to be capable of great. I think they have the tools, just a matter of doing it. Atlanta has the same problem. they play good all year, but never great. In the playoffs, if you dont play great, you dont win. They are consistantly consistant. unfortunately for my steelers, we can play great at times.. and then othertimes we look like cleveland. |

Look, Bmore played great, and usually the steelers match that level of intensity, which leads to their epic battles. The Ravens showed up yesterday looking for a battle. The Steelers didn't get off the bus. You can't nitpick the team's performance when they blow you out. Sorry, just not gonna mean anything. I don't think "You should have won by more" qualifies as a valid argument when your QB and WR are griping over a 2-pt conversion. :rofl2: |

Its still impressive what Baltimore did, but just saying, if the steelers had caused 7 turnovers i wouldnt have been ecstatic with 35. I bet if you were to ask the Raven's players and coaches about it they would say the same thing. But obviously wanting it to be better and it actually happening are diff things. Such as i wanted baltimore to be crying, but instead its us who is hidin in a corner :p but again, if you are happy with a 35 point performance on 7 turnsovers, your not expecting much of your team. And that goes for any fan/player of any team. |

I call :bs:, daisuke
The Steelers have defined winning ugly over the years. They've needed last second plays to win several times over. But they still did well in the playoffs. You're talking about Super Bowl after week 1? Little premature. Am I happy with the most points the Ravens have ever scored against their rivals in a 28-pt laugher? Heck yes I am! |
Quote:
you miss the point its a good win. But you shoudl have wanted it to be a heck of a lot worse with 7 turnovers. I'll take wins any way they get them. But there has to be a slight part where you go.. why didnt they score more.. as a coach, that would be where you look and say, we could have done this better. because if you dont find any room for improvement.. there are problems. again not saying it wasnt embarrasing for us, or that it wasnt a good win for you guys. Heck if the steelers beat the ravens by 1 point i'd be happy (or any team for that matter). for example if you went head to head with a civic at a drag strip (not the street of course!) and your won by 3 car lengths. you'd be like sweet i won, but then wonder why it was only 3 car lengths. |

Of course there's always room for improvement, but it was a blowout, plain and simple. And any team that puts up 35 on the Steelers ought to thank their lucky stars, regardless of turnover ratio. There's no part of me that wonders why they didn't score more. The Ravens don't average 35 points a game on offense. I didn't need it to be 56-7 for the point to be driven home. It's one game in a long season. |
yeah they dont score 35 on average. but look at the way the game went
14-0 early in the first and then after that you got 7 turnovers so 21 points of 7 turnovers? in last years superbowl loss, GB scored on all 3 turns overs. would the ability to score 35 points on 7 turnovers be enough to beat the patriots if the patriots were playing well? the packers? Nah man. It wouldnt be enough for the steelers or the ravens, or any other team most likely. Oh.. its not that hard to run up 35 on the steelers. Our corners suck somethin awful. if we ever put William gay on the field, just have whoever he is covering run up field and he will be open. I swear 50% of the touchdowns last year when they showed the highlights had Gay running behind the receiver about 10 yards behind. (mcfadden isnt that great either. hes good tackler etc but coverage is meh.) ive been sorely pissed that we havnt done something to get better cover corners these last few years (5 ish) |

Twist it however you want, you can't spoil that performance for me. Think less of me as an NFL fan if you like (oh noes I'll lose so much sleep), but it is what it is. It was a great game, a blowout victory over their bitter rivals, but it's just one game. Part 2 is in November at Heinz. I'm thinking it will go down a little differently. It's just funny to me that you'll criticize my team for not steamrolling yours enough. You want me to nitpick the Steelers' performance? I don't think I need to go there, bud. You don't see me making excuses or nitpicking the Steelers when the Ravens lose to them. Aside: The Steelers gave up 35 points in 3 games last year, including playoffs. |

If you think i wouldnt say the same about the steelers if they beat baltimore in the same fashion, you'd be wrong. Like i said repeatedly. take the win. be happy. I would be. I wouldnt think less of you as an NFL fan now your just getting a bit butthurt at analyzing the game. I want pittsburgh to get better so ima look at the way we played. You want baltimore to get better, you'd be doing the same. and i always nitpick the steelers games when we win or lose. which is why again i said if steelers beat the ravens like yesterday i'd be shaking my head a bit. Happy shaking, but still shakin. and by god dude november better go differnetly lol or my teams in a world of ****. but like you said, yes, i honestly expected us to get steamrolled even worse by watching how bad we played. Heck (if you did steamroll us even more maybe the players would pick themselves up a bit more in response!) |

I'm enjoying the win a bunch, man. I'm not upset in the least. I just find it hilarious that you are suddenly the expert on the Ravens after they had a statement game against the defending AFC champs. But I could see this coming. I was hoping to avoid Steelers-Ravens talk today. Some folks just can't leave well enough alone. :roflpuke2: |

if any of this is ruining the win for ya you gotta stop caring so much :p Wouldnt bother me if people said anything about a steelers win. |

If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd be hearing it non-stop. I'm basking in the excuses and naysaying. It's hilarious. |

no excuses here. we got blown out. (i think ive said it 5 times) honestly now im starting to think that your just kinda gettin full of it over 1 win sheesh. and if you dont expect more from your team like i do from mine, i guess thats why you guys normally dont go too far. Expectations my friend, set em high. as much as i hate to say it, Bill Cheatercheck always pushes his team no matter the score or situation. thats a good thing in the NFL. |

If what you expect of your team has no bearing on anything then your not really a fan of your team sir. You should always expect your team to win, always expect them to play a clean, well executed game. (it will never always go right, but thats what to expect. ) And I didnt diminish the game. Again, reading comprehension is a good thing. I said "well sigh. Im a steelers fan. Horrible performance on our part. great performance on Ravens part." which i followed up with what basically mounts up to: you should have wanted the ravens to beat up on us even worse. You should not sit on this win (enjoy it) but not sit on it and expect your team to do even better next time. Beccause like the falcons, being okay with good and consistant good, doesnt get teams very far in the playoffs if you want the ravens to win it all. truthfully, i want the steelers to win games like the ravens did yesterday. Go in, beat up the other team, play physical, come out dominating. I should be the one saying that the next matchup will be completely different. You guys should be saying that the next matchup will just be another embarrasment for my team. Honestly man if theres any BS in here its the way your handling any criticism. Learn to take it. But then, like i said, maybe you ravens fans are okay with lowered expectations. Maybe that philosophy comes from the team. And maybe thats why year in year out you guys arent as serious contenders. (am i saying this to make you mad... maaaaybe.. maaaybe not.. but maybe.. its a metaphor... but it really happened) And P.S you can judge teams playoff potential early on. i'll say it now. Falcons = no good. Saints = no good. and one final P.S.S (it sucks when servers are down at work. I get bored and look what i get myself into) |
Dice, you're the one raging here, bro.
And you're calling me out as not being a real fan because I was ok with my team running clock when ahead by an absurd amount late in the game. also, week 1 wins don't always mean playoff success. See: Entire history of the SD Chargers. I'll summarize: I'm sorry your team lost. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt. See you at Znats. Hope you've cheered up by then. |
lol. IM sorry my team lost. Im not upset
I'll see YOu at znats. SD chargers nothing to look there except for they are hiiiiiighhhlllly over rated. (as are the falcons) Imagine how hard it is to tell everyone around you that the falcons are super overrated when you live in Atlanta. Bring a towel for Tony when he gets his suprise. |
Man forget the Steelers, Lets go Miami. All Hail the MIAMI DOLPHINS!!

Shush guys the Patriots are about to play :roflpuke2:
