I'm sitting on the 14th floor of the Baltimore World Trade Center, overlooking the end of the main straight (Pratt Street). The sound is amazing. Main race doesn't start until 3, but this is amazing.

All in all, it was amazing. I think next year I'll go to both the Indy and ALMS races. The sound echoing off the buildings was crazy awesome. The speed is intense. They'd appear out of nowhere doing 150+ and then brake in the blink of an eye for that first corner. Lot of overtaking down at that corner, too.

Some pix. I only had my iphone on me, and the windows of the building are tinted. But at least you can get a sense of the view. We got the end of the major straight and the hairpin.

Awesome pics Al. That looked like a lot of fun  Just couldn't bring myself to deal with the hustle and bustle to get downtown with this event.

Bertaut, I sat in absolutely no traffic coming in or leaving Bmore today. We were on the east side of the city, and there were no problems at all!

Because Indy Car races typically only fill 10-15% of the total seating capacity at most dedicated tracks.

That could be. But I think there were other factors at play, because the grandstands were filled.

I think being east of the event made some difference as most of the traffic from the roads blocked off for the course were diverted west.

But it could be a combination of both.

Fix'd.

For street races with temporary stands they usually predict crowds pretty well. But at a dedicated track that has, say, 100,000 seats... Indy usually puts 10-20k in the stands.
