Possible Delays on I75
I just saw this posted on our Cleveland Z Club forum from one of the members:
By Bill Estep Herald-Leader The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the site of a massive rock slide in northern Tennessee won't be reopened until May 21, according to a news release from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. The plan is to reopen one southbound lane that day, and to reopen a second lane on the northbound side of the interstate, according to the news release. Right now, only one lane of northbound I-75 is open at the site. The affected area is south of Jellico, between mile markers 141 and 144. Caryville is just south of the area. Crews are working to repair a slide that occurred in early March on the south side of the busy interstate. The work involves drilling large nails as deep as 50 feet under the road to stabilize it, according to the news release. Travelers should expect long delays in the area. Highway officials have recommended these detours: ■ If heading south on I-75, take Exit 160 in Jellico, follow U.S. 25W to LaFollette and back onto I-75 south at Exit 134 in Caryville. ■ For wide loads headed south, take Exit 160 in Jellico, turn right and follow State Route 297 West to SR 63 and back onto I-75 south at Exit 141. ■ If headed to I-40 destinations east of Dandridge, Tenn., take Exit 29 at Corbin, follow U.S. 25E to Morristown, Tenn., and take I-81 south to its junction with I-40. Note, however, that U.S. 25E is reduced to one lane in each direction at the Kentucky-Tennessee line for pavement repairs inside the Cumberland Gap tunnel. This may make me want to take I77 instead. Oh well, it's just another "dragon" that we'll have to slay

Unless it's got worse the truck detour I took last month wasn't very long and was a fun road if you're not stuck behind slow traffic. Only added ~1 hour to our trip to ATL.
