They're probably slightly more expensive, since they're more rare. You might get off cheaper by powdercoating your sport rims gunmetal :roflpuke2:

true...I also seen some one on the forum that actually did a black chrome process...it looked really good also

Nice!!! Any idea what 40th wheels are going for?

I am definitely leaning towards picking up a set of 40th wheels or powdercoating a set of sport wheels. They don't come up for sale as much, but I have seen them as low as $1200 but most are around $1500-1800. Cost around $500 per wheel if you buy them new from FBNISSAN. Might be a lot easier to just get sport wheels and powdercoat them.

Thanks!

Actually I think Motor Trend had a 7AT tested at 13.1, but I don't think they had a video of it. My 2nd best time was like a 13.2 though. In summer weather I couldn't do better than 13.5 stock. Just got an exhaust installed and hoping to go back soon and see what I can do.

Its not that great of a deal. Keep the 18" for winters if its your dd and buy something nice for the summer. Oh and then be prepared to want to upgrade to a BBK once the non sports brakes get swallowed by the larger wheel. this is exactly where I'm at now.

Yup, I thought about that too. I may stick with 18's and just go wider. The set I have in mind is 18x9 front and 18x11 rear - Forgestar CF5 in anthracite.

I would consider doing a lighter color wheel. I'm happy with my setup but if I were to do it again I would opt for the silver version of the wheels I bought. i feel like the rims get lost in the dark background of the wheel well. Part of that might be fixed with a bbk that is colored to stand out though. anyway just my 2 cents, its your car and you can do what ever you want with it!

you should totally get the pink ones!

I've been thinking of better brakes regardless of whether I replace the wheels.

Have you really thrashed the car with the base brakes? They're fine for getting around town, but they're not so good at slowing from 100+ mph (or so I've heard:ugh2:), and long drives with windy curves bring about some brake fade.

BBK's can fit under the base 18's from what I understand.

AFAIK I have not experienced any brake fade. FBNISSAN guy tells me that the sports package brake kit will fit with the non sports rims. Oh and there is a thread somewhere about someone upgrading to the sports brakes from base and they worked just fine; I don't feel like searching for the thread. you'd have to find out for yourself if other bbks would fit. Its like $1600 to do the upgrade and the bigger brakes would be nice but right now I would only be doing it for the look...which is why I haven't done anything yet. Owning this car and trying to save for a house to buy at the sametime is counter productive...

On the long drive down to Zdayz, when the road started getting curvy right before Fontana, Dan G and I both experienced very scary brake fade. We were the only non-sport Z's in the group.

b1adesofcha0s 07-08-2011 12:52 PM

I'm definitely will be upgrading to the sports package brakes at somepoint in the future. Will be part of my process for getting the Z track ready. Are the rear brakes necessary to upgrade, or will just upgrading the fronts be OK?
