Anyone know of a nice place for rent in Ellicott City/Columbia?

Hey all,

I'm taking a new position within Lockheed over towards Ellicott City/Columbia area...I've searched CL and some other places, but figured I'd ask here for the locals who may know/have seen some good places. We own our place in Urbana and will just rent it out.

Looking for a nice neighborhood, townhouse, and would be amazing if it had a small fenced in yard - though not a must.

It'd be me, my wife, and our 2 year old daughter. Again has to be a nice neighborhood place...my wife is pregnant as well and is a stay at home mom. We have a dog too. Looking to spend $2k max.

If you know anything...please let me know!

I know most places in EC/Columbia will be nice...but the hard part is finding something under $2k from what I've seen so far.

Avoid Oakland Mills and Owen Brown around Tamer Dr/long Reach Village. This is from someone who live's in the area and not from me. Anywhere else you should be good Columbia is pretty nice.

Reality is even those "bad" areas are still pretty nice...

Yes your biggest problem with hoco is the $$$$ you're going to have to pay

You can always come down to Halethorpe and live sub 1k and rent a house to boot. Only 15min from the area or even check out Glen Burnie.

This is a good point. Columbia, Ellicott City, and the like are, with no offense to current residents, "sheshe" places. They're very nice neighborhoods, but you're paying huge for location. There are decent pockets in less reputable parts of town that will give you the same thing, same security, same decent housing, for less money.

Come on down to Stevensville! Traffic only sucks on Friday's when fighting the Ocean City traffic. Beautiful here and you have the Bay to play in. Get a jet ski or boat and I'll show you a couple nice water accessible bars!

We currently live about 50 min from EC...so the point of the move would to be closer, otherwise we would just stay at our own place and commute.
