Hail Storm in Upper Marlboro, MD

Just had a short thunderstorm roll through and as it began hail started falling. Small pieces no bigger than a dime in size. Then as the second cell rolled through we got much larger golf ball sized hail. I ran out and covered the vehicles up (the Z was in the garage) and watched as it pelted the house and everything. Here is a good shot of the size I'm talking about:

Hopefully there weren't any damage from it, I heard the warning on the radio about the incoming storm and warned a few friends in the direct vicinity.

We had the hail down here around 5:30. Like you the Z was tucked away in the garage. I hate that stuff.

That's crazy!

Glad your ride was all tucked in. Would have sucked to be out in that.

We did not even get a drop of rain. They said we were in for bad weather...

That is wild! Glad your cars were safe, Jon.

Yikes, I've never seen hail stones that big before. Usually only around dime or nickel size around my area. Glad the cars are ok!

Now the house on the other hand... how did that fare?

Red__Zed 06-02-2011 07:17 AM

holy crap those are some hailstones!

Saw that storm on the news yesterday and it just missed us where I live. Thank god cause I don't have any cover for my ride. Glad your "ride is still alive"...lol

Yeah the sky didn't even get dark where I was yesterday. I was pretty nervous myself as I don't have any close cover for my car either. Those are some nice sized golf balls up there, they would have probably put a nice dent or two on a car. The largest I ever saw was down in SC while I was in school, they were just a little bit smaller than a baseball!

If I saw hail that size coming down, I'd say "good luck car, we're just gonna file an insurance claim". You'd get knocked the f*ck out with hailstones that size.
