Autobody/Detailing Code:
Shop Name: D&V Autobody Address: 23550 Overland Drive Sterling, VA 20166 Website: http://www.dandvautobody.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): Full Detail + Clear Bra (~$200, had a discount from a Saab friend.) Stars (1-5, 5 best): ** Comments: Went in for a full detail and a clear bra. Left with a full detail and NO clear bra. They just didn't feel like doing it, even though it was scheduled and confirmed in the morning. Said they would call me to talk about it, never called, never responded to my calls or voicemail or emails. The detail work was well done, but sucks to drive 90min and only have 1/2 the work done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Work you had done (w/ price): exterior tinting of the rears, handles, and all other emblems. Also good with the powder coating Comments: All good. Headed back for swap out of my old Potenzas for my new ones. Code:
Shop Name: DJ Mayo Contact Info: reflections-detailing@hotmail.com 703-296-2449 Cell Website: <checking with admin to see if I can link> Work you had done (w/ price): Optimum Opti-Coat and full detail. Everything was stripped down to the clear coat, paint corrected (minor defects), opti-coat applied, and then detailed. Dropped the car off Saturday and got it back Tuesday night. Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: The coating is still curing but it looks outstanding! The paint acts just like a mirror. I got a few other estimates and was quoted about 20% so I am satisfied overall. DJ was very professional, responsive phone/email, and definitely knew what he was doing. When I showed up he was working on a older NSX that was pretty marred up. Parts of it had been fixed and you could tell the difference. Pic's Here: Optimum Opti-Coat Code:
Shop Name: Wilson's Autobody Address: 3539 S Hanover St Brooklyn, MD 21225 Website: http://wilsonsautobody.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): Blacked out roof ($700 - $1000), Engine dressing + Intake Hoses treatment Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: Frank Wilson is a master painter and artist, he takes the time to listen to what the customer wants and comes up with excellent suggestions. He is very fun, professional and thorough in his work. I left it to him to come up with ideas with the car and dropped it to him for days and I have yet to be disappointed. He does a lot work for the Ravens & Wizards and does not do any halfway jobs. Def an A+ shop and I highly recommend it. Work you had done (w/ price): Tail Lights Painted $100 (w/ Bertaut discount ) Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: Did an amazing job with the tail lights for an amazing price. Frank was very nice and helpful, customer service was awesome. Dropped the tail lights off at the shop Tuesday evening and picked them up Wednesday evening. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who needs any painting or body work done Code:
Shop Name:Paintless Dent Doctor Address:Your house... They come to you Website:Paintless Dent Doctor - Home - Baltimore, MD Work you had done (w/ price):They have taken dents out of my Z twice now. 125 for the first trip and 95 for the second trip Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: They have come and seen to my Z twice now and you can't find the dents and that first dent was nasty and took the guy an hour to massage out of the car Code:
Shop Name: Christian Auto Body Address: 114 Lafayette Avenue Laurel, MD 20707 Website: http://www.christianautobodyinc.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): Spoiler Install ($80) Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: Had a good experience with Christian Auto Body in Laurel where I got my spoiler installed. They got it done in less than an hour and did a great job as well. It only cost me $80 too Code:
Shop Name: Hill's Garage Address: 4700 Belle Grove Road #15 Baltimore, MD 21225 Website: http://www.hillsgarage.net/ Work you had done (w/ price): Nismo Exhaust + Berk HFC Install (~$300) Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: birdman and I went to have our exhausts done. Frank was absolutely great. He had no problem (I asked) with me watching him work, talking with him during the work, and letting me hang out in the garage/under the car while he worked on it. An open door policy to me means he has nothing to hide, and is confident in his work. His pricing was great and I have complete confidence in him. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Work you had done (w/ price): NST Pulleys, H&R Spacers, Swift Springs, SPC Full Camber kit, Berk HFC, F.I TDX Catback installs Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments: Frank & Suzanne at Hill's Garage are always a pleasure to deal with. They are a highly knowledgeable working with our cars (Z, GTR,G) (Frank is a Nissan Master Technician & Suzanne is no slouch with our cars either). All the installs they did for me were always thorough and Frank worked till 1AM to make sure that I had my car at the times needed. I left my car at their shop for days at times and never felt a single bit worried. Def an A+ shop and I highly recommend it. Code:
Shop Name: AAM Competition Address: 9015 Junction Drive Annapolis Junction, MD 20701 Website: http://aamcompetition.com Work you had done (w/ price): Bolt-ons Comments: Great Work Code:
Shop Name: Baltimore Tint LLC Address: (IAG) 1203 Baltimore Blvd. Westminster MD 21157 Website: http://www.baltimoretint.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): All windows tinted to 20% (~$200, don't remember) Stars (1-5, 5 best): **** Comments: They did a great job, and even offer a 'no questions asked' warranty on the work (for additional cost) that they will fix the tint even if you rip it off or cut it. Their standard warranty is what I stuck with, no bubble/peel/fade or they will replace it. I did have a window start to peel since you can't stop the windows from going up/down when you open the door. They had no problem redoing the work. Everything went smooth and well! Code:
Shop Name: D&L Window Tinting Address: 10811 Pulaski Hwy White Marsh, MD 21162 Website: http://www.dltinting.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): All around tint, head/taillights, all around Clearbra shield installs ~$1700 Stars (1-5, 5 best): ***** Comments:The guys at D&L tinting are great in what they do and work in a 20 year old well established business. You are free to observe the install and chat during process. They are 3M certified and will fix any imperfection long after install no questions asked. Def an A+ shop and I highly recommend it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Had a horrible experience with D&L tinting in White Marsh. Didn't get any work done from them, but they tried to hold me hostage and blackmail me. I'm sure the quality of their work is fine, but their customer service is the absolute worst I've ever seen/experienced. Code:
Shop Name: Xlnt Tint Address: 617 Keith Lane Owings, MD 20736 Website: http://www.xlnttint.com/ Work you had done (w/ price): All windows tinted to 35% Stars (1-5, 5 best): ? Comments: Did a hood job with my tint and for a good price as well. The vinyl on my tail lights is starting to peel off, but they are going to fix it for free. Jeff at Xlnt Tint has been very nice and helpful throughout this while process. He's willing to adjust his schedule with mine and even stayed an hour past his usual closing time to finish working on my car. Wheels/Tires/Alignment Code:

Vinnie took the car for a quick spin to ensure that everything checked out with any problem and they let me know that I'm welcome to stop by should there be any issue. Billy is a Nissan fanatic, knows a lot of the Zs and used to work on his GTR himself. A+ shop with top notch equipment, will definitely return there for needed services. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Work you had done (w/ price): After the camber kit install at AAM, I had my alignment done by Billy Comments: it was quick and painless. Not to go off topic but my aunt had a body kit installed on her Mustang (Stillen kit) thru D&V. 7 weeks later she drove off thinking everything was fine. In less than 5 miles one of the parts came flying off the car while traveling at about 45 miles/hr. Come to find out they never put any of the screws to hold the body kit in place. So they apologize and she goes back. This time they do it right but it took another 4 weeks.
Also, they told her they were keeping her car indoors at night. Well, she took a little drive out there and found out her car was being left out in the back lot. It was raining the night she went to check and they had the rear bumper off the car at the time, too. They did a lot of work for my Z and I never had an issue......but her experience was just horrible.

WOW... that's just ridiculous! They must not be fans of Mustang at that shop since you on the other hand didn't have any issue with the work they performed on your car. I wouldn't be too pleased to see my car in the rain with the bumper off.

Though there is no way to prevent anyone from doing that and though there is a chance for that to happen, I think others' experiences with the shops would be validated by fellow forum members. For the most part, we tend to use the same places for mod work and we should be able to discern fabrication from facts

If someone has something personal with any of these shops, they can fabricate any story they like, and it would be their word against yours. I just don't put any credence into it. Every shop will have problems, and every shop is capable of doing a good job. No offense, guys, but it's often a roll of the dice. Also, the first time anyone smack talks a forum sponsor in this thread, it will be locked. |

I mean Al, I agree with your points but there is just no 100% guarantee about the reviews but we can all use our best judgement to look for consistency in reviews and to decide whether or not to discard the shop. Just because Al Gore said that he invented the Internet doesn't prevent one from verifying that statement nor does it mean that we believe all that he said (although I may add Gore looked way too confident while talking nonsense)
