Testing out the limits of my car :icon17:

This was a result of VDC Off + worn front tires + wet tires from going over some puddles. There was this sharp right turn that went down hill and then up. I took the turn a bit too fast and felt the rear end come loose. It began to spin, but I corrected it. Unfortunately by the time I had corrected it, I ran out of road. My drivers side tires went off the road a bit and into some mud. If the road wasn't as narrow or the turn wasn't as sharp, I would have been perfectly fine. I've learned my lesson though, no more VDC off.

I'm glad you came out ok

Thanks, I appreciate it

I would like to get some track time or find an empty parking lot to practice some VDC off driving though.

I think if you stay away from the mud you'll be ok.

Yeah, I think that just might be helpful

Just glad you didn't get hurt bro. I heard the tire squeal behind me and was already through the corner. First thought was "oh sh*t, he lost it" when I didn't see you in the rearview.

New tires and VDC = ON for you, good sir!

So after a quick inspection of my tires today I discovered that I have Yokohama Advan Sport summer tires on the front and Yokohama Advan S4 all season tires on the rear. :icon14:
This may help explain the events described in this thread. :icon17:

This now further complicates my tire buying decision for the summer. It also doesn't help that Im low on cash and quickly burning through my savings. Some advice would be appreciated. I've been thinking of getting all seasons to deal with rain and snow since I don't have any other car to drive. Also considering a set of 4 new hankooks since they're really cheap and last a long time. I'm not going to be hitting the track anytime soon, maybe just a cruise at the most (with VDC on ;)). Just need something for a DD that's cost effective but not complete Crap either. Also wanted to go a little wider with 245 on the front and 275 rear (stock sizes are 225 front and 245 rear) Here are my choices:

1) 2 advan s4 all seasons to match the rear = $350

2) 2 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS pole positions as a better performing all season tire = $450

3) 4 Hankook V12 summer tires = $646

What do you guys recommend? I'm leaning towards the all seasons to help avoid any bad weather disasters.

+1 I would go with that option to address the most serious need first ; then worry about a fun set later ;) ciao

I agree. As this is your dd and we get at least a few snows/ices every year, I'd go all season.

I was leaning more towards choice 1 as well. Thanks guys I appreciate the help. You each have been given some rep

Option d: 4 oem advan sports from redzed. :rofl2:

I'm trying to see if my uncle will pay for the tires since he said he would. That was before knowing how much they cost though, lol. If he backs out then I will have to pay for them myself.

One more question. The square tire setup (same sizes on front and rear, just to be clear) won't be a problem will it?

Toyo R888s in the back and a bus pass for the winter... or just call in sick when it snows.
