Dumb question here, but I gotta ask. Whats the purpose of the VDC?

VDC off its like having sex without condom on. Do not have sex without it just because other people tell you it's fun.

So when would you actually use it?

When you have a good understanding about car control and you are able to control it; or you feel like you wanna try it out and be prepared for it. Try it at the track or open space first before doing it on public roads.

Or try it on cruises, but watch out for puddles and mismatched tires! I learned that the hard way.

:icon18: Jay, please refer to Page 1 to see what B1ades is referring to. Leave VDC on till you have perfect control over your car. There's been many instances of people crashing with VDC off. Just look at the video up above for perfect example of guy with poor driving skills with VDC OFF. He almost took down the Hyundai in the process ;)

eastwest2300 08-31-2011 09:14 AM

Man this VDC button sounds pretty vicious.

Just take it one step at a time to kind of ease into it. Turning VDC off will increase the tolerance for you to slide out, but it will still kick in if you go way out of control. Warning though, that alone will not prevent you from wrecking your Z.

You are right about nobody caring about a family 4 door.... Now if it had 24s it would be all foshizal baby!!!

mrmixitup 08-31-2011 05:40 PM

I only turn it off at the track.

A 2011 5.0 with traction control off is a death trap, unlike my 370 which still feels like 20% traction control still activated when it's disabled.

birdmanx1 08-31-2011 06:46 PM

I was wondering if VDC worked when airborne! This guy could enlighten us :icon17:

It happens even to the best of us... the drive of shame

So the Z qualifies as an exotic? Interesting....
