NASA Event @ Summit Point April 9 & 10
This just a reminder that NASA will be holding an event on the Summit Point main course on April 9th and 10th. If you have never been on a track before this can be a great introduction. NASA provides an instructor for every driver who will guide you around the track.
They also have a single track session on Saturday called a Hyperdrive. I met ZCarMan last year at his hyperdrive and I know that he had a blast. Of course you will probably need an oil cooler and at least replace your brake fluid with something like Motul or Castrol SRF. Beyond that, a set of good brake pads could help. However, don't fool yourself on the necessity of a major brake hardware upgrade. I would choose base model brakes with Castrol SRF and CarboTech pads over Brembo 6 caliper brakes with unknown pads and fluid any day. Here is the link Welcome to NASA Mid Atlantic Or just take a drive and check it all out. There is no entry fee. All you have to do is tell the person at the gate that you are there for the NASA event and they will let you in. You can come and watch me beat up on Mustangs and watch me get beat up on by Miata's

Might make it out in the 5.0 but it will probably be later in the year for me.

I would hit this up but after my event at VIR with the Porsche Club I really have to get an oil cooler first. I think I'm going to hold off on tinting my car and get the oil cooler next weekend and try to install it soon after. I can use the lift at the Fort Meade Auto Hobby Shop but I am having issues with my left shoulder so I might have to recruit some help to get that done.

It was a great weekend at Summit Point. The weather was about perfect for the cars (overcast and chilly) but the track was a little slick. Luckily, the sun cleared for my last glorious session.
And my brakes… With the CarboTech XP/10 front and XP/8 rear, Castrol SRF fluid, and brake ducts I could brake late and hard all session without even a hint of fade. Even my instructor was impressed. I guess I jinxed myself with that “beating up on mustangs” quip in my first post… There were some seriously fast Mustangs in HPDE 2. I had to give a lot of point byes to a crazy SVT Cobra and another seriously crazy Shelby. The Shelby pulled harder on me in the back straight than the Z06 in the group. One sad note was an overzealous driver in group 1 who may have totaled his car. He went too fast into turn 2, got his outside wheels in the dirt, overcorrected without easing off the throttle, and when he finally got all four wheels on the track shot like a pinball into the inside wall. What was he driving? A brand new ZR1

Take it from someone who HAS cracked up at the track, on his first time out: if its bothering you that much, and you have the cash for it (I didnt at the time, sadly), then just get it. Its reasonably priced I believe, and compared to the $4200 in damage I had to pay (and that was CHEAP), it would have been worth it.
