Swap Sport Wheels for My Base Wheels + Cash - Mid-A Only

After talking to some guys at the meet today I am considering swapping my base wheels + some cash for a set of sport wheels. I was gonna buy new tires front tires this summer and figured for the amount of money I would spend on those tires, I could swap out my base wheels with someone's sport wheels. As my Z is my daily driver, I can't take the wheels off until I get the new ones. PM me an offer if you're interested. Only looking for people local in the MD/VA/DC area which is why I thought it would be more useful to post this thread here rather than the Classified section.

Here are some pics I took today after washing the car:

Only the rear left wheel has some rash on it, but the other three are fine.

If you want to check them out in person, the weekly Starbucks meets are the best option

Note: I will need a decent set of tires on the sport wheels. If I need to buy new tires for the sport wheels, then this whole swap kind of becomes useless :p

If mine weren't so rashed up I would do the trade so I had a set of winter wheels.

Yeah I'm hoping there's someone else out here that's like you, but with wheels in better condition :)

The only thing I'm worried about with the whole powder coating thing is I don't know how well they will be able to fix the rash. I'm afraid to take this risk and have it not look as good as I had hoped.

So you admit that your tires will need to be replaced this summer, but you are asking for somebody to trade you a set w/ tires that are in good shape? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

The base wheels would be for someone looking to use it as a winter/track set. Which would mean a new set of winter tires/track tires and it wouldn't matter the condition of these tires. He basically wants the sports wheels and not have to buy a new set of tires.

:iagree:

I'm trying to find someone who wants these for a winter/track setup, in which case they would replace the tires anyway. This is also where the amount of cash I put in with the wheels would come into play. For me the whole reasoning behind this trade was that the amount of cash I would put down for new tires, I could put down with my base wheels and trade for the sport wheels that I wanted. I had decided not to get them because I don't have $1000 to just buy them from someone. I do have a couple hundred saved up to trade my wheels with.

If I write the word "sports" on my base rims, will that work? :D

Sure, if you write it with real $100 bills taped on there. Of course they have to be in usable condition and not cut up or anything

I know you were looking for a set of rims and tires and since you need new tires, how about picking these up for now?

Infiniti g35 coupe rays engineering forged 19" wheels+tires 1200obo

Then you can sell your factory rims to offset some of the cost. Then you will at least have a new set of tires for the summer and these rims are pretty light.

If you sold your factory rims for 600 to someone then you are only spending 600 dollars on a set of wheels with new tires. The selling point of these is that the tires are new and you need new tires anyways.

those g35 rims aren't worth anywhere near $1200. They're also skinnier than the stockers.

Nah, I want the sport wheels because I like the way they look. Not too worried about getting new wheels though, I can live without them. If I can find them It would be great, If not then its whatever. Appreciate the help though.

I was gonna say that if you get yours repaired and they look fine, I would trade with you, but I don't want to run the risk of you having wasted your money if I don't like how they turn out.

I like the Nismo wheels too, but they cost twice as much as the sport wheels and definitely too much for me right now.

The problem is that I can't throw down that kind of cash right now, so I would need to swap instead of buying them separately and then selling. I don't know how long it would take to sell them either. Once school is over I'm gonna post this up in the classified section and expand my search area to places between here and NY. I was planning a trip there anyway so I could get them on my way there.

powder coating will remove all scratches and rash as long as they aren't deep gouges (Which most aren't.. i'm talking 1/2" deep). I used ASCO in Manassas (google them)... they sandblast the wheels and powedercoat them... awesome job.

If you are going to powder coat them anyway, just buy rashed ones. It won't matter. They coated my nismo wheels in about 3 days for $500ish. Ton of color options too.. I went with 30% black.

Yeah, but Brian's had some pretty deep gouges from when I saw them, which is why I'm worried that they might not come out perfect after being repaired. I have no plans to power coat them.
