For the trunk issue, I brought mine (and the TSB of the issue) to Timonium Nissan (Nationwide Nissan). They 'fixed' it by putting in new arm things (the word escapes me) and it did fix the problem. I didn't complain that that wasn't the fix outlined in the TSB as the problem went away. Well, 1yr later it is back.

As for the Mod-friendly, figured I would chime in also. I used to drive a toyota w/ intake, exhaust, headers, 50shot. Pre-50shot the pin came out of my differential. I put everything back to stock, and had it towed to toyota. They replaced the trans (FWD) under warranty and said I had been 'hot rodding' the car, as the exhaust header bolts weren't rusted on as they should be. Then they said never come back. Later on I worked for several different toyota dealerships doing various things from parking cars to oil changes. I had my acc belt replaced w/o taking off my mods at the shop I worked at. Next time I tried to get service done, i was told my car was black listed from toyota, and they wouldn't touch it even to do an oil change. I went to 3 other local dealerships and they all said the same thing.

When I brought the nissan in to timonium for the TSB the service manager questioned me (all friendly, like i wasn't aware of what he was doing) about racing the car, doing mods, and 'being on the message boards, doing stuff'. This is also the dealership that gives 'free oil changes' as long as you pay 200$ to get a 50 point inspection... or just pay 180 for an oil change. I have not been pleased by them, let alone the fact they give you a POS kia as a loaner.

Dude, thats crazy.

I hope that I am the exception, but fear i am not.

Man, that sucks. I wonder if it would be safe to just ask the guys at the dealership how they feel about performance mods. Anyone think this is a good idea? I don't have any yet, so I don't think it would be too bad.

Just got back from the dealership. They charged me $22 for the filter + oil change with tax. I ended up getting another quart of oil from walmart before I went there just in case. They used a tiny bit of that last quart and I have it back for future oil changes. So my total was $37 (oil) + $22 (filter+change) = $59. Not bad and I have that oil for future use so it should cost only $52 next time!

Also I talked to one of the service advisers and he said they were cool with mods. :happydance:

Timonium nissan told me around $160 for 'premium' oil change, and $180 for ester based oil change.

And you wonder why I never go there, and do oil changes myself.

Wow that is such a rip off. You should go to Sheehy Nissan in Glen Burnie. It's not too far from you and it will save you $100 on oil changes :p

I did my 1st oil change a couple months ago, it wasnt very hard at all. I actually enjoyed it too, after taking off the engine/ splash guard, you get to see the engine, the Z is an amzing machine. Very well built.
