Default Hankook Ventus V12 evo

I'm considering replacing my RE-11's with these: Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

I believe I saw a few posts here with folks using them. Anyone in the Mid-A have them on? They are a good $130 less than the RE-11's per tire and right now, that would help me a lot in terms of getting something on the car to drive it.

Also, does anyone have any recommended installers in the Columbia/Baltimore area? Tire Rack pointed me to these guys: Installer Details

They seem to have good reviews. I would prefer first hand recommendations from those that have had tires installed on a lowered car though if possible.

Thanks!

Lance I had the V12s on my Z when I sold it. Let's just say there is going to be a HUGE decrease in performance over your RE11s. If you are willing to live with that they aren't a bad tire.

So it might be a bit slippery in comparison? I could probably live with that for now. Heck I kind of like a loose rear (put that in there for Shadoquad), LOL!

Yeah, definitely. You'll have significantly less grip and significantly more sidewall flex. The car will feel completely different.

The only pluses will be better tire wear and better rain traction.

Thanks Steve. I might try the Continental Extreme Contact DW's. Yeah, I'll have RE-11's in the front for a while with them. Could make things interesting, LOL!

hey lance, i currently have the hankook v12's, your more than welcome to try driving my car to see how they feel, but compared to the one's i had priod (the advan), they kinda suck on dry, but do much better on the wet. at first i didn't like them very much, but i got used to it after a while. to be honest tho, i don't think i'll buy them again the next time i need to change my tires, unless i'm short on $$.

good luck

Sounds good 911! I'll take you up on that offer soon. ;-) I see the Conti Dw's are back ordered now. Boo hoo!

My dad uses Neubauer's, and I've had work done there on previous cars I've owned. Pretty sure they've been in business for my entire life if not longer, about 30 yrs. Overall I think they do quality work but can be pricey at times. I was thinking of using them to get my tires mounted on my new wheels when the time comes. Where ever you do go, leave us some feedback on how the shop did. Like I said before I am going to need to do this soon as well.

I know the Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires get great reviews for a high-perf all season. The reviews I've read on the DW tire seem to be just as good. Knowing your driving style and how you prefer a "loose" rear end (cough Shado... cough...) the Ventus might be a good choice for you

I ended up going with the ContiExtreme Contact DWS's and had Sheehy Nissan of Annapolis do the mounting + balancing for $25 a tire. I had heard some horror stories of a few local shops scratching the hell out of rims, so I figured the dealership would be the best bet. The DWS is one hell of a tire though, I am very happy with them so far.

Glad to hear those Conti DWS tires are working out for you man. I can't wait to get my stock RS-A's off and the DWS tires on!

Mounting and balancing for only $25 a wheel? That is cheap!

Lance, I have had both.

You will like the Hankooks, but they won't be as nice riding ,and will have less rip then the RE11's. But you will be saving a lot of money too.
(Just don't expect the same performance)

Thanks Fuzz!

Oh, I see a couple recommendations for Radial Tire in Silver Spring over at the 350 site.

Radial Tire Company

I might drive my Z up to Neubauer's thought first to see if they can get it on their alignment rack.

You may want to try Walmart. Seriously. My understanding is that Walmart has the newest Hunter tire machines that have rim protectors and make it virtually impossible for the tech to scratch your wheel.

I've had tires mounted by Radial Tire and they didn't mess up my wheels, but these were for a Saab with 235/45-17 tires. I've heard some mixed reviews of them otherwise. You could also try Ye Olde Wheel Shop in Elkridge. I know the owner's son and a bunch of people I know have had tires installed there.

Walmart???

Just look for a place that has a leverless/touch less mounting machine and guarantees their work. Let them know first hand that you don't want a single scratch on the rims and watch them install the tires. Tire Rack usually list whether a shop has a leverless/touchless or not.
