WTF is wrong with the Republic of VA?

Is this freaking state crazy or the lawmakers smoking something?

Some of this lawmakers need to take some college classes. With your head straight forward your peripheral vision still covers a 20% angle. With your head slighty turn you have a 150 peripheral vision angle. The GPS is not straight in front on your vision plus you have a voice aid.

The only state that you not allow to have a radar detector! :shakes head:

NOW, you can get a ticket for having a GPS affixed to your windshield...
99% of GPS are designed to be affixed to the windshield in this nation. I could not believe this when I saw it in the evening News, I thought I was dreaming.

I have a Modshack modded GPS mount for the Z but this is freaking ridiculous.

I cannot wait to get the F*CK out this state!

I loved it when they showed that the cop had a gps on his windshield!

Who makes the ultimate decision on that stuff ... the governor?

Some of those Laws have not been revised in years by the governors or anyone else. They just use them at their convinience. :shakes head:

I love the "I'm so tall" the law doesn't apply to me excuse.

Your not alone, but out here it's not enforced.

I hate driving through VA.. it sucks. They have sooo many unmarked cars, and they like to sit in the middle of the highway in the trees, shooting radar, just picking people off.

SmoothZ 01-29-2011 08:08 AM

Yeah, I never liked Virginia. Some of their laws are archaic and need to be removed. And they have the most boring titty bars in the country.

Do they have to wear pastees?

Simple. Don't affix it to your windshield. Affix it to your dash or Vent Mount. VA is not the only state that enforce this. The Law says " windshield " Well the Dash or Vent is not the " windshield ".

Lemers 01-29-2011 08:19 AM

If the law says anything about obstructive view on top of the dash will be a "no go" too.

Yes, and they spend half their time cleaning the mirrors and pole with a towel and Windex. Lame...

Agreed. Funny thing is the New law states " Any Obstruction ". So the State inspection sticker would be a Obstruction violation of this same Law. Looks to me like they did not think this through. Even the Cops issuing the tickets are in violation. They are not above the Law.
What a Joke of a Law.

Yeap, titty bars are a joke. They can only use a bikini, no thong allowed. Even if you go to the beaches here in VA the women cannot wear a thong. :shakes head:

Don't move to Cali. They have that winshield mounted is against the law $hit too! I bought a beanbag mount for my GPS when I was on travel out there.

Touring with Nav... Problem solved.

I'll be here all week!!!

eastwest2300 01-30-2011 06:08 AM

I know me personally, when I must drive through virginia going on long road trips, I would pull my radar completely off the windshield including the bracket, and while Im driving I'd hold my radar in the palm of my right hand and continue to use it while driving, and if it goes off, I'll conceal it. And if I happen to get pulled over, which hasnt happened, I'd quickly remove it from the cigarette lighter plug and throw it behind the seat.

Those clowns arent getting me with that crap.

dropped1 01-30-2011 09:18 AM

How about getting ticketed for swearing on the boardwalk/beach. That's my favorite VA law...

Yes problem solved, however you are taking your vision for a few seconds to look down. However it should have a voice aid to, I don't have a Touring with NAV so...

I rarely look at the GPS with the voice aid no need to and I placed it off my frontal view, low on the windshield. ;)

It has voice aid. Pushy little b*tch... Never stops nagging me the whole trip...

Turn left in a 1/4 of a mile, turn left in 400 feet, make the next legal U-Turn...

You know you can turn that off, right? I finally did that after it pissed me off so much. Using the nav system in DC is basically worthless. It basically just tells you you're going the wrong way every five seconds.

I always find it funny how you can immediately tell that you're in VA by the number of complete pieces of **** on the road around you. There is no way that any of these cars would pass DC or especially MD inspection. Why bother even having a safety inspection if everyone can just pay off their local garage to get a sticker?

That's funny, because it's really MD that's the shithole of a state. When I cross the river on 495 into MD I just want to GTFO. Everyone starts driving crazy and there are all these pieces of **** on the road that couldn't pass an annual state safety inspection in VA to save their lives. Not to mention you're 10000x more likely to get shot in MD/DC than Nova. haha. :stirthepot:

This is true. But I'd rank the horribleness 1) MD 2) DC 3) VA.

495 in MD is like a junior-level NASCAR race at Talladega. Only there is no safety car and it never ends. :p

hahaha...:iagree: I live in Montgomery county, the chances of you getting shot are lower than it is in Prince Georges county... thats bad news right there..

I'm glad my exit for school is right where 495 starts in MD, so I never have to deal with that nonsense. I do however have to deal with the 495 traffic everyday. Also, anyone else think there's way too many speed cameras on 95? It's ridiculous.

I didnt know that either, I would tell you, I'd just spend the money and get that Escort Passport 9500ix, I have it, and its GPS guided, and it tells you where all the speed and red light cameras are to include VA. Its saved my as quite a few times, I just pull it off the dash when Im going through VA, and hold it with it still on of course, just for that piece of mind.

I've always worried about the VA state patrol in unmarked cars. I would think thats the biggest threat.

Honestly I never cruise at speeds that would really get me noticed. Growing up in VA you kind of learn how to survive without a radar detector.

You're right about the unmarked cars. NOVA is ballin' so we have a bunch of random **** that will get you. BMW 335i Sedan, 2010 Camaro SS, 2010 Mustang GTs... all unmarked. You never know 'til the lights start flashing.

In the Northern Puget Sound area in WA there is an ummarked Corvette Z06 that rolls around patrolling I-5, My buddy knows the guy.

b1adesofcha0s 01-31-2011 12:23 PM

The speed cameras are on the MD side of 95 around exits 27 and above. I don't know about the VA side. If you see some solar panels on the side or center of 95, its most likely a speed camera there. They start going off when you go 12 mph over the speed limit, so 77 mph is the magic number.

I always thought the unmarked police cars had to be American cars. More things to watch out for now, yay!
