1st Gear F'd
 

I know I know, there's a shat load of threads about it, but add me to the list of "no way mine is normal" crowd in regards to the 1st gear shudder/chatter when starting in 1st from a dead stop.

every time it's "uh...uh....uh...uh...shift to 2nd before my head falls off" bad!

Pisses me off!

Is it shuddering when the clutch is already fully engaged? Or between shifts?

When you are releasing it and gassing up to get going.

Try timing it so you give it a little more throttle when engaging the clutch or release the clutch a little slower. I've had that happen to me a couple of times.

I have done all that. It's just not normal. I can give it 3000 RPM and it's usually fine, but that ain't good. ;-) Na, this is more than normal. It happens all the time, no matter how gentle or hard you are on it.

I would get it checked out then, especially since you can show the Nisssan tech what the problem is.

Yeah, I will eventually. They will probably try to void my warranty with my mods, bastards! ;-)

They can't void everything. Unless you had something done to the transmission, it will still be covered. Only the stuff you installed or modified can be voided and anything it damaged.

I know they "can't" but I bet they try. ;-)

I've just learned to give it more gas and ride the clutch from 1st to 2nd. I sometimes smell that nice clutch stench but atleast it doesn't shudder or kill the engine! I had killed the engine like 15 times the first 30 days of ownership! (Yes I've even driven stick b4. LOL)

Lol. How the heck do stall the engine going from 1st to 2nd. The car should be moving already. Just time the shifts a little better or hold 1st gear a little longer. It's all about matching the speed of the car and speed of the engine, but you already know that. 1st to 2nd is tricky for pretty much most drivers, so don't sweat it.

Got that right.....I only had my TE-37's, RE-11's, blue Z kickplates, Stillen exhaust & intakes and was told to never come back......by the dealer I purchased my car from. And guess what? I've never been back.....except to show the car to a couple of the other salesmen who appreciate what I've done to my Z. :tup:

That will kill the engine? For real? Cuz mine is the same and maybe it's just me, I suck at 1st gear
