Virginia - Front Plate Requirement

Hrmmm...I've never had a car where this would have been an issue, but the front license plate requirement in Virginia really takes away from the appearance of the 370, in my opinion.

I was wondering if anyone has gone without front plates, and, if so, how often do you run into "issues" and how much are tickets in Virginia for that offense?

Thanks...

Virginia is very strict about front plates.

Honestly, the front plates don't look bad at all. If you don't want it mounted in the traditional location, check out the Stillen front plate bracket. It screws into the tow-hook area of the grille and looks pretty good -- saw one on a 40th Anniversary at our meet just yesterday.

Speaking of which, if you live in Northern VA you should stop by for our Saturday Starbucks meets... every Saturday @ 10AM at the Fair Lakes shopping center by Kohl's.

Thanks, I can see from your avatar photo that the front plate doesn't look "too" bad. I really wish we could get that law changed though. I will stop by the meet sometime, although I don't have my Z yet...

I wish we didn't have to run them, either, but I guess it's not that big of a deal. The Z makes it work... I can think of some other cars that wouldn't take to a front plate very well.

Definitely looking forward to seeing you out at our meets. We usually get a pretty good sized group to show up for coffee and sometimes lunch. Some heavily modded, some stock!

Have owned the car for one year as of yesterday, no front plate and no 'issue' thus far. No issue with my 20% tint yet either.

Caveat: I've driven less than 4500 miles thus far so the 'opportunity for issues have been less'

Was ticketed twice by Virginia's finest when I owned Corvettes. One LEO was just finished writing up a citation for somebody and was walking back to his car. Gave me a long stare and I knew I was toast. Total fine including court costs was around $80 if I remember correctly.

When I got the Z, I said to heck with it and got the Stillen bracket. Looks pretty good, no holes get drilled, and easily removable.

It doesn't look that bad unless the stupid dealer drilled to holes of about 1" on the bumper behind the license plate holder. ;) However I hate front license plate on any car.

Nissan Northe America replaced my front bumper and I got the Stillen tow hook license plate holder.

And the only reason I got the Stillen one is because I work on a military base, if not I would be rolling without front license plate.
