Hey guys, since we are making this a weekly thing, I figured I'd make a dedicated thread for our Zs & Coffee events.

VIRGINIA MEETS:

When: Every Other Saturday @ 10AM, weather permitting

Where: The East Market at Fair Lakes Starbucks. It's right next to Kohl's and the D1ck's Sporting Goods.

What's with all this rumor talk I'm hearing at work about 3 feet of snow this weekend? :ugh2:

The forecast is a Major storm coming in Friday night into Saturday. Don't know how accurate, but one guy told me 40 inchs.

Maybe it's not that much of a rumor, huh? :icon17: My Z is so low....it'll be buried up to the door handles! :bowrofl:

Says a big Nor'Easter is developing, and those are the ones that dump the most snow on us... Blizzard of 96 again?

Damn! Well it's supposed to be over by Saturday Night / Sunday Morning so you might be able to get to the game alright if Metro service is running.

Here is what WTOP is saying:

"Meteorologists aren't saying how much snow is expected Friday into Saturday. There's a good reason why: The storm hasn't formed yet.

Meteorologists are using computer models to make early predictions.

"I think the best way to describe it now is that everybody is going to have major snow," Channel 7 Chief Meteorologist Doug Hill says.

"Most of the areas are probably going to see an excess of a foot. There are going to be some spots where it will be closer to 2 feet of snow when everything is said and done."

Hum maybe next week :-/

Yeah, I'm fairly confident we won't be meeting this weekend, which is a bummer. Next weekend should stand to be pretty open, though I think ZCarMan will be out of town.

what's on the agenda when you all meet up?

what is the turn-out rate?

We just show up at the Starbucks around 10AM, grab some coffee and hang out shooting the sh!t.

As far as turnout goes, the regulars are me, Tony, Lance, and Jon. We hope to have more start joining us on a regular basis but so far it's been pretty small.

It's not looking like this Saturday will be any good. There are ridiculous amounts of snow piled up in the parking lot that we use, and we are now forecast another 10-20 inches of snow tomorrow and Wednesday.

Whenever (if) the snow piles either melt or are moved I plan to join you guys -- I'll probably end up as the "old guy" in the group, but it sounds like a fun & interesting gathering -- it is near by, and you certainty can't beat a great cup of "foo foo coffee" on a Sat morning...

I've gotta head down to Home Depot first thing in the morning and get a new shovel, already broken two over the last couple of days......this is REALLY starting to get old.....ME and the Z are starting to get cabin fever...

Any status update for this weekend? I am guessing it is probably on leaning on the negative side?

Will try and show up if the roads are navigable.

There's going to be a lot of re-freeze overnight and the lot over by the Starbucks looks like a miniature version of the Alps so I think we should probably hold off and let some of the stuff melt away.

I'd say no to tomorrow and try for next Saturday.

Also the gun show is in Chantilly this weekend.

Would be willing to but I have company in town. Pending any unforseen apocalytic weather, next week is a definite go. This weekend I am 50-50.

Yeah, waiting until next weekend might be a better idea. I know the roads are still messy so probably better to wait.

With any luck, I will have my Z by next weekend and will be able to join you guys. Looking at a '10 MB Base 6MT w/ Sport Package this afternoon.

Awesome! Given conditions I don't think I'm going to come out tomorrow... shooting for next weekend if we can get some good melting next week!

Yeah that's OK. I still have a lot of things to take care of tomorrow. By next week things will have calmed down anyways.

This coming weekend I am a go. Took the car out Sunday after the thaw and it was great!

Just need to log those miles on there and get the break-in squared away.

I drove by the Starbucks last night and the lot is still pretty mountainous, so I'll make sure I check it out again this Thursday to see what it looks like.

No can do...until my car gets fixed! =)

Well if you want to suggest an alternate site with a Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts, I will be down.

Pretty dark outside and hopefully the rain wash away a lot of the debris left from the salt and sand.

Yeah, we should get a lot of rain this week which will help.

The current location is pretty much golden when conditions are good... we've got lots of space to spread out without getting crowded by shoppers.
