Mid-Atlantic 370Z Owner's Club - TRACK DAYS!!!
Hey guys,
I think we should try to plan to make it to some HPDEs (High Performance Driving Event) as a group this year. I know I was talking to Omar (hazzazi) about them at our Zs & Coffee meet, and I think some of you other guys would be interested, too. Anyways, I joined the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Auto Sport Association the other day (it's $45 for a 1 year membership) and plan on starting off running some HPDE1 sessions later in the year (probably summer time). The HPDEs are two day events and cost about $360. You get track time with an instructor so it should be both fun and educational. As you get more experience you are cleared to move on up and eventually get to drive by yourself. All you need to participate is a valid driver's license, approved helmet (they aren't that expensive), and a car that will pass tech inspection. The Mid-Atlantic chapter runs events at Virginia International Raceway (on the border with North Carolina) and Summit Point (in West Virginia). Let me know if you guys are interested so we can work out which events would be best to go down as a group for. I think it'd be fun to be able to get out on track together and drive our Z's like they were meant to be driven. Check out nasaproracing.com and nasaracing.net (mid-atlantic site). If you're interested in doing this, go ahead and sign up for membership! |
Steve, kudos for the information and yes of course I'm interested.

I am going to be getting my car ready to run by around mid-summer. I think an oil cooler will be necessary based on the feedback from others. Brake pads up to track use will be a must as well (easy to swap at the track). |
Also check out the triangle z club. They have a track series, are usually a little cheaper and not as crowded.

Very interested but I need the weather to clear so I can get my car beyond her break-in point.

I think for me June would be perfect. It'll be after ZdayZ (20-23 May) and I should be moved into the new home by then. Next up is installation of the CAIs and now I'll for sure need an oil cooler and brake pads. And then maybe I'll drive down to TN for ZConn at the end of July! This could be a busy summer for sure.

BTW, the June event is the 19th-20th at Summit Point raceway in WV. Since that's after my exam I could definitely shoot for that one. We could all plan a caravan up there and decide if we'd camp out at the track for the weekend (not a bad idea if they have shower facilities). We could also plan to share a set or two of tools while we're up there. |
