ZdayZ, Tail of the Dragon.

I will be back. Need a few mods though.

Oil Cooler
RE-11's.

If you have never been, it is a must do. Put it on your bucket list.

"I WILL RETURN"

Z1NONLY 05-17-2015 09:38 PM

Car go into limp mode?

Spooler 05-17-2015 09:41 PM

Noop, oil temp in the 245-255 range. Too hot for me.

Spooler 05-17-2015 09:43 PM

I forgot something, one Go-Pro that won't fall off the car.....

need4speed255 05-17-2015 10:33 PM

How many people or vehicles attended? I have never been so trying to get and idea of how big the event is.

Memphis370Z 05-17-2015 10:36 PM

I hit 250 while driving the Dragon this week. Just placed an order for an oil cooler when I got back home tonight. Also agree on the need for better tires. Better brakes for me, too.

Largest Z event period.. So BIG to answer the question

Spooler 05-17-2015 10:54 PM

I installed Z1 2-piece rotors all 4 corners with Carbotech XP8 pads. Brakes were not an issue for me. Tires were OK, (Bridgestone SO-4) they just got greasy towards the end of a run. If you cry about brake dust then go a different route. I don't care, I can wash that off. Not stopping is an issue for me.

Memphis370Z 05-17-2015 11:04 PM

Agreed. I like stopping better than not stopping. I came in to a few turns hotter than I should have and really thought I was going to end up off the pavement. Z1s seem like a great choice. I don't really care about brake dust either. Do the XP8s squeal a lot?

Spooler 05-17-2015 11:07 PM

Very little so far. Just every now and then.

1038 people registered. So that would be around 700~800 cars?

Chris Forberg put on one hella of show. :D

Mike 05-18-2015 08:01 AM

yes he did! that was pretty awesome

12155ny 05-18-2015 09:03 AM

My first time going and I am already working on reservations for next year. Great atmosphere and great people. The event is big...and it's growing.

Had an amazing time, besides hitting a deer on the way out!

I was so glad the weather held out, it was so much better than last year, as was my car. Between last year and this, I did a bunch of dragon-centric mods and the car was simply fantastic (34-row oil cooler, brake cooling ducts, 275 front tires). I was keeping up with an FI TT Z with no issues! What a blast.

Always willing to answer questions about drifting.

I will be in Fayette-Nam all day on the 28th on a layover if you want to grab a beer in the evening. Stay at the Courtyard Marriott by a mall and a ton of restaurants there.

Spooler 05-18-2015 06:14 PM

Don't know about you guys, but I was sure board driving too and from work today. The roads are straight and dull. It was freaking awful.

If you liked the TOD, try the Rattler. Longer, turnier, higher speed, less traffic, and right nearby ;-)

Hotrodz 05-18-2015 07:01 PM

I just want to chime in and say that I had the time of my life. It was worth it just to meet so many incredible forum supporters. So many, too many to name them all but Spooler, Rusty, 1LIFE, djtodd, DatsunFTW and all my new friends from the south central Florida z club (forgive me if I got it wrong) to name a few and all in my opinion are class acts. Mike you eluded me as well as you were on my hit list too!!! LOL

Cheers and thanks to all that made this event a success. I will be back and you all owe yourself this one treat in life, you won't be disappointed.

m4a1mustang 05-18-2015 08:41 PM

I love ZDayZ. This was my 6th consecutive event. Hell of a time. If you haven't been, you need to go.

Regarding oil temps, I can get it up to around 260-270 on a morning run (7 am), so if I'm back next year in a Z I will need a dedicated cooler.

CRAP! :( I would love too. :D But I'll be on my way to Page Az. with the motorhome. Leaving on the 27th.

Mike 05-18-2015 09:07 PM

Next time then

kentmo280z 05-18-2015 09:23 PM

My first time there.. New supercharger performed well. The hottest my oil got to was 240 w/ 25 row cooler and a Spal fan. We had a few bikes pull over and let us by on the Cherohala Skyway!

nomodsjk 05-18-2015 09:28 PM

It was my first time and i eill be back oh yes! And it was cool hanging out with you spooler im glad we got a chance to hit the dragon together but yes next time it would be nice to have a gopro suction mount that wouldn't fall off my car at 40mph that sucked

Mike 05-18-2015 09:43 PM

the only bad thing is that its gotten so big, its hard to meet up with everyone!

And I feel bad that I ran over Red's GoPro mount and case. His GoPro came off and as I was ready to make a tight turn there it was in the middle of the road...GoPro mount and case. I didn't see it and by the time I reacted to it...was a bit too late. At least I didn't destroyed the camera but it was never found.
Man, Sorry you had to "depart" Saturday night. I went back to the mansion and I was told "you were on you way home". I didn't see you much during Saturday, I was "busy" enjoying the dragon. I even did a night drive on the dragon. That was really enjoyable (I wasn't doing anything crazy)
Overall it was a great experience. I met some individuals and some great individuals as yourself (Spooler).
I departed Saturday night at about 11 pm. Drove until 4 am and by then I was 15 miles from the NC/VA border. I took I-40W to I-85 to I-95.
It was nice meeting you there and If I live closer I could do it next year, but 13+ driving hours each way is a bit much inside the cockpit of a Z.
Cheers!!!!!

Spooler 05-18-2015 11:10 PM

Everybody was cutting out early in the morning. I knew I wouldn't get up being a night owl and the wife was needing some help with the dogs so I cut out for the house. I was at the house in 5 1/2 hours thanks to no Atlanta traffic.

I wish I would have hit that crack pipe Tail of the Dragon one more time before I left, LOL.

MR.nismo 05-18-2015 11:15 PM

I have the group picture from the water falls. I'm trying to upload here but I keep getting a message for being too big. I don't know much how to resize or make them smaller.

maybe host it on Imgur or the likes and then link to the pic.

MR.nismo 05-19-2015 12:36 AM

I don't have any of that stuff. No facebook, no birdy ****, no this and no that. Just 370Z forum and a regular e-mail account.

Rusty 05-19-2015 06:52 AM

Here's a video of me and the wife taking it easy on the Dragon. Driving it backwards.

I'm absolutely without a doubt not going to miss this next year. I absolutely have to do it.

Which means I have a year to get an oil cooler, hotchskis sway bars, and pads/rotors/fluid/ss line upgrade for the akebonos.

zguynate 05-19-2015 10:11 AM

This was my second year and I didn't leave disappointed. This is easily the best car event I have ever been to. I met a few of you guys (My name is Nate), but didn't meet as many as I would have liked. I already have the cabin booked for next year so Ill hopefully meet more of you then!

Memphis370z needs these things too. He kept hitting 250 degree oil temps on some spirited driving on 28. I kept getting some shaky brakes with my Akebonos after a little while. I need to get some brake mods going as well.

Spooler 05-19-2015 03:45 PM

Did anyone talk to a local at the Dragon? I did. I mentioned "Mr. Davis" and it got interesting. (If you know who this is). I will link the article about the King of the Dragon later.
