ZdayZ, Tail of the Dragon.
I will be back. Need a few mods though.
Oil Cooler RE-11's. If you have never been, it is a must do. Put it on your bucket list. "I WILL RETURN" |
Car go into limp mode?
|
Noop, oil temp in the 245-255 range. Too hot for me.
|
I forgot something, one Go-Pro that won't fall off the car.....
|
How many people or vehicles attended? I have never been so trying to get and idea of how big the event is.
|
I hit 250 while driving the Dragon this week. Just placed an order for an oil cooler when I got back home tonight. Also agree on the need for better tires. Better brakes for me, too.

I installed Z1 2-piece rotors all 4 corners with Carbotech XP8 pads. Brakes were not an issue for me. Tires were OK, (Bridgestone SO-4) they just got greasy towards the end of a run. If you cry about brake dust then go a different route. I don't care, I can wash that off. Not stopping is an issue for me.
|
Agreed. I like stopping better than not stopping. I came in to a few turns hotter than I should have and really thought I was going to end up off the pavement. Z1s seem like a great choice. I don't really care about brake dust either. Do the XP8s squeal a lot?

Very little so far. Just every now and then.

My first time going and I am already working on reservations for next year. Great atmosphere and great people. The event is big...and it's growing.

Had an amazing time, besides hitting a deer on the way out!
I was so glad the weather held out, it was so much better than last year, as was my car. Between last year and this, I did a bunch of dragon-centric mods and the car was simply fantastic (34-row oil cooler, brake cooling ducts, 275 front tires). I was keeping up with an FI TT Z with no issues! What a blast. |

Very cool and down to earth guy. Always willing to answer questions about drifting. |

Don't know about you guys, but I was sure board driving too and from work today. The roads are straight and dull. It was freaking awful.
|
If you liked the TOD, try the Rattler. Longer, turnier, higher speed, less traffic, and right nearby ;-)
|
I just want to chime in and say that I had the time of my life. It was worth it just to meet so many incredible forum supporters. So many, too many to name them all but Spooler, Rusty, 1LIFE, djtodd, DatsunFTW and all my new friends from the south central Florida z club (forgive me if I got it wrong) to name a few and all in my opinion are class acts. Mike you eluded me as well as you were on my hit list too!!! LOL
Cheers and thanks to all that made this event a success. I will be back and you all owe yourself this one treat in life, you won't be disappointed. |
I love ZDayZ. This was my 6th consecutive event. Hell of a time. If you haven't been, you need to go.
Regarding oil temps, I can get it up to around 260-270 on a morning run (7 am), so if I'm back next year in a Z I will need a dedicated cooler. |

Next time then
|
My first time there.. New supercharger performed well. The hottest my oil got to was 240 w/ 25 row cooler and a Spal fan. We had a few bikes pull over and let us by on the Cherohala Skyway!

|
the only bad thing is that its gotten so big, its hard to meet up with everyone!

Man, Sorry you had to "depart" Saturday night. I went back to the mansion and I was told "you were on you way home". I didn't see you much during Saturday, I was "busy" enjoying the dragon. I even did a night drive on the dragon. That was really enjoyable (I wasn't doing anything crazy) Overall it was a great experience. I met some individuals and some great individuals as yourself (Spooler). I departed Saturday night at about 11 pm. Drove until 4 am and by then I was 15 miles from the NC/VA border. I took I-40W to I-85 to I-95. It was nice meeting you there and If I live closer I could do it next year, but 13+ driving hours each way is a bit much inside the cockpit of a Z. Cheers!!!!! |
Everybody was cutting out early in the morning. I knew I wouldn't get up being a night owl and the wife was needing some help with the dogs so I cut out for the house. I was at the house in 5 1/2 hours thanks to no Atlanta traffic.
I wish I would have hit that crack pipe Tail of the Dragon one more time before I left, LOL. |
I have the group picture from the water falls. I'm trying to upload here but I keep getting a message for being too big. I don't know much how to resize or make them smaller.

I don't have any of that stuff. No facebook, no birdy ****, no this and no that. Just 370Z forum and a regular e-mail account.
|
Here's a video of me and the wife taking it easy on the Dragon. Driving it backwards.
|
I'm absolutely without a doubt not going to miss this next year. I absolutely have to do it.
Which means I have a year to get an oil cooler, hotchskis sway bars, and pads/rotors/fluid/ss line upgrade for the akebonos. |
This was my second year and I didn't leave disappointed. This is easily the best car event I have ever been to. I met a few of you guys (My name is Nate), but didn't meet as many as I would have liked. I already have the cabin booked for next year so Ill hopefully meet more of you then!

Did anyone talk to a local at the Dragon? I did. I mentioned "Mr. Davis" and it got interesting. (If you know who this is). I will link the article about the King of the Dragon later.
