Please do, Spooler. I'm interested in the article, as well as learning about your conversation with the local.

Is this the article?

New Cars and 2015, 2016 Car Reviews, Pictures, and News - Road & Track

Says the unofficial record between the overlook and the state line is "around 10 minutes".

Yeap, that is it. He was there on Saturday at the overlook for a while with his bike with a few cautious friends. Don't ask how I know.

I beat it is in the nine minute range. It is a guarded secret, just as he is.

I had to come home and look at a picture in the article and put some stuff together in my head. He is not the only one who analyzes everything. It's the engineer in me. I can't help myself. I do understand why he is so guarded and will keep quite on what I think I know.

If I see him again, I will know. They don't call me the elephant at work for nothing.

DatsunFTW 05-19-2015 06:47 PM

Zdayz is very difficult to describe it was so fun. Meeting some great forum members and chasing down that dragon from head to toe. Next year is already scheduled in my book. It was my first time and definitely not my last!

But for next year, many mods to come to make the dragon even more enjoyable. Need some sway bars and a bbk.

I'm processing my "about 10 minute" run video now...

I can "see" breaking into the 9's but I would need to keep my foot in it when approaching the blind corners that open up on the other side. Living in Florida and seeing the road once a year, I don't trust my memory enough to do that. I would only have to be wrong once.

Yeap, and he can do it in the dark I beat. Read the article, the clue is in it. That is freaking nuts. In my younger years when I was sharp, I mayyyy have come close. I am so rusty now it took 2 days to dust the cobwebs off.

Cool. I respect that.

Let's just say I rattled the guys cage when I said a bike would be faster than a car....LOL One mention of Mr. Davis and information started flowing because he thought I was an idiot.

Spooler 05-19-2015 09:42 PM

Maybe I shouldn't have posted that. Oops

I did find the pictures of the guy above and the mystery man.

the factory oil cooler doesn't do much honestly. if i open it up on the hwy a little bit it will shoot up to 220-240. sitting in the traffic it will get up to 240.

^ I can accept this. My '13 with no add'l oil cooler was running between 220~240 all weekend.

Depends on how quick you are. I can take it up to 270 if I'm using 2nd and 3rd gear on a morning run (temps below 70).

If I am back next year with this car I will be adding a 25 row.

I already have the 25-row in the garage, didn't get it in before ZDayZ. :shakes head:

Pushing it, 240-255 as best I could tell just at a glance. Mine is a 2012 Nismo. Too hot for me.

Hotrodz 05-20-2015 10:07 AM

Pretty big difference with an oil cooler. My temp never reached 220*. I have a 34 row because...twin turbo!

It sure was a fun time out there, I was a little shocked how many people were driving so reckless out there. I didn't even bother counting how many bikes went off the road. But there was at least one 350z and one gtr that went off the road most likely due to excessive speed.

You're welcome to join us. (That involves getting out of bed rather early though)

And putting gas in your car the afternoon before.

Yeap, I will have one before I return. My car runs 220 just driving home from work at 75mph in the summer. It wasn't that hot last weekend.

The Dragon is to driving what Bourbon street is to night life.

Both are public streets where people go to do things they don't normally do on public streets.

Hotrodz 05-20-2015 04:49 PM

That's what I thought, the highest temps I have seen on my car post oil cooler was right at 140*, but it was 125* that day in Phoenix. I was really worried at first but was as high as it went. Obviously, I'm partial to Fast Intentions as none of their parts have failed me in some extreme situations.

Yeah but someone crossing the double yellow in a blind corner into your car is just an asshat that deserves a beating. Lucky that didn't happen this time and their own car was the only casualty, and insurance (me and you) will pay to replace their car. There's a time and a place for using all the pavement and its the track. Unfortunately they don't arrest people for being asshats like they do on Bourbon St.

Crossing the double-yellow is the biggest "party foul" up there.

Mbreese 05-20-2015 09:15 PM

Had a white 300 overdrive a curve cross the yellow coming out I would have been a goner had I not been braking for the turn ahead of time ! Scared the living **** out of me ! Then that driver wanted to flip me off ! Wtf !

I didn't have any issues at all.

Z1NONLY 05-20-2015 09:28 PM

I had that problem one time on 28 last year.

Mbreese 05-20-2015 09:31 PM

Mistakes happen I'm good with that part no harm no foul but don't be an asshat and flip me off ! Lol
Other than that it's the only issue I've had in the last 3 yrs !

I didn't get angry with the STi that was in my lane last year, but he didn't flip me off when he did it. That takes a special kind of jack @$$.

he was getting some crap from a couple people on the zatlanta page on facebook.

Make you guys happy. Got some video's of Chris Fosberg.

When he pulls out. Watch the right rear tire. Looks like he has a spool in the rear end.

Chris warming up. Watch how much push is in the car. He's got the wheels turned all the way left and it wants to go straight.
